  1. i didn't know until game two how to pronounce byfuglien's name.
  2. i really hope the cubs win it in my lifetime and don't really care about how it affects some doofus who attended a baseball game 7 years ago.
  3. Well you are being silly. As long as Piniella and Hendry are here, Theriot IS a part of the Cubs core. Now if Piniella and Hendry happens to no longer here, then that's another story, but until then he is a part of the core. if theriot is part of the core then why isn't dempster, fukudome, lilly, marmol, etc? Fukudome can walk after his contract is up. He's not anything special for the amount of his contract. Demp is good, but not worth what he's making. Lilly I'd like to keep, and Marmol should be locked up long-term. everybody can walk when their contract is up. lee can walk after this season. obviously i consider lee much more of a "core" player than fukudome because he's been around longer, but if theriot (starter since 2007) is a core player then why isn't fukudome, dempster, lilly, etc.? it makes no sense.

  5. i don't know why people thought the flyers could win this series. i have mixed feelings about this season. with the talent on the roster the flyers massively underachieved this year - no reason they should have been in a shootout to get into the playoffs. but then with the injuries they've had, they did well in beating the devils. they won 3 more games i expected them to win... getting swept is disappointing but we were never going to win the cup with shitty brian boucher in net.
  6. a guy i know had this as his facebook status today: apparently respecting the game of soccer means going down like a gunshot victim every time a defender breathes on you.
  7. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5166152 i wonder if he's bipolar or something.
  8. as a general rule, if you're about to make a post that CubsGM would have made, you probably should reconsider.
  9. it's just a waste of money. you have a guy making $10M and he's pitched twice in the minors, and he's better than most of the other pitchers in the rotation. what's the point of keeping him in the minors?
  10. you really want a good starter using 3 or 4 of his 32 starts in the minors?
  11. perhaps ted should try pitching the ball somewhere other than belt high right down the middle
  12. Why? because they're both going to hit leadoff for the chicago cubs, duh
  13. no, i'll just say that this [expletive] happens everywhere.
  14. good year flyers, get out the golf clubs
  15. i saw it in a rap video one time
  16. the washington nationals? who hates or even cares about them?
  17. the cubs are the little kid who finds his Christmas present under his parents' bed three days after thanksgiving, and plays with it and breaks it before they even get home.
  18. drop sizemore who apparently has completely forgotten how to play baseball; add vernon wells
  19. i'm assuming that we win this one and i get to make another team on wednesday :D

  21. sorry if you're upset with me using one of your cool words you think is original. how about we make deal where i don't use "meatball", and you don't use "awesome". that's my word and i'm afraid of it catching on. what are you talking about
  22. oh great now everyone is using the term "meatball"
  23. http://www.thedailyrash.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/baghdad-bob1.jpg The Cubs look to stay on a roll as they face the lousy Pirates at beautiful PNC Park. Here, probably half of the crowd will be pulling for the Cubs and the other half will have bad teeth and mullets, as is the style in western Pennsylvania. The Cubs will send Ryan Dempster (2-1, 2.78 ERA, 35.2 IP, 25 H, 11 R, 3 HR, 10 BB, 32 K, 0.981 WHIP, .243 BABIP, 10.5 LD%) against de facto Pirates "ace" Paul Maholm (1-2, 4.83 ERA, 31.2 IP, 32 H, 17 R, 4 HR, 13 BB, 20 K, 1.421 WHIP, .288 BABIP, 13.9 LD%). http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2321/2492430513_018738ba84.jpg vs http://www2.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/Pittsburgh+Pirates+Photo+Day+7ruu21Gn3yil.jpg Here is the likely Pirates starting lineup.
