archer can be pretty frustrating; he has the stuff to be at the top of the rotation but his location leaves him too frequently. last game he was rolling along and then imploded in the 4th inning. i think at the very least archer can be a tough ROOGY at the big league level (.203 BAA against RH batters in his major league career)
Who are all these top prospect SP that the Rays and Red Sox moved to the pen without having innings as a starter? Price and..... Dude quit while you're behind already. You sound like Dusty with this "that's how they've always done it" logic. i didn't know it was possible to be so willfully ignorant and smug at the same time.
For a baseball purist such as myself this is glorious. i'd probably appreciate it more if there weren't so many games where the cubs' offense was completely wretched. i can enjoy a good pitcher's duel, but when three-quarters of the pitchers you face are dominating you, it's probably your offense that sucks.
Look. It's not about getting guys at bats, it's about winning games. We just need to start winning games because that's all that matters. yeah i love when lou just throws his hands up and says there's nothing he can do about his players not performing. well let's see, you could actually pay attention to how your players are performing, look up some splits or not determine your bullpen usage with a blindfold and a dartboard.
4 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 5 K, 1 HBP for jackson. he was rolling along pretty well until he gave up a triple, walk and two singles with two outs in the 4th inning. probably got tired because of the idiotic bullpen stint.
john ely in his minor league career had a .270 BAA and 1.40 WHIP against LH batters, and a .237 BAA and 1.09 WHIP against RH batters. but hell let's play two RH batters who hit lefties way better than they hit righties while leaving two lefthanded batters on the bench. great managing you senile old turd.
He's going to have to be a #1 starter with Cashner and Jackson in the pen now. I hate the [expletive] Cubs. When is Ricketts going to step in and hire someone with some intelligence? well jay jackson started today, so who knows what the hell they're doing.
"I haven't paid too much attention to it" "Really? How about that?" "That is surprising. I wasn't aware of that." this guy is making $4 million to manage the cubs.
this is where choking earlier in the game with bases loaded and no outs hurts... or throwing away runs with wretched fielding. guess we should just be glad we still have a chance.
yes, you're thinking way too much into it. every game played at the superdome could be a home game for the saints. every game in miami could be a home game for the dolphins, glendale for the cardinals, etc.
