i'm far too lazy to look it up, but i think that regular season bullpen quality was one of the few things that was correlated with winning in the playoffs. with lackey, arrieta and lester struggling recently, and hendricks not really a guy who goes deep into ballgames, the ability to put the boot down with three very good to elite arms from the 7th inning onward is extremely valuable. the cubs are also extremely deep in hitting, and torres is almost certainly going to be blocked by some combination of russell, zobrist, happ and baez by the time he's major league ready. the only part that really annoys me is that if you're okay trading for a butthole like chapman, then do it in the offseason when his value was really low. the package the yankees gave up to get him was relatively weak, and now they're getting back a top 50 prospect for 3 months of him. but really, nothing has changed. he's still an amazing pitcher and he's still a guy who beat his wife.
