  1. I love how 16 wins with a 4.02 era aren't good enough for some people, yet they get all fired up over Marquis and Lilly. at the time, $9M per year for a barely above-average pitcher was hardly worth writing home about.
  2. Real baseball fans know that every Cubs pitcher who had a good season in thoes three years did so because of Maddux's influence. Wait, I can't tell, are you being sarcastic? yeah good point... i sure hope he was
  3. Real baseball fans know that every Cubs pitcher who had a good season in thoes three years did so because of Maddux's influence. ahahaha, and i guess the ones who had bad years did so because of larry rothschild or dusty baker?
  4. I'm hoping he can make Epatt expendable in a deal, since Epatt could be valued pretty highly as a ML ready 2b, and we aren't in need of any more 2b. bad post
  5. guy stupidly swings at the first pitch, i guess we should just give him a pat on the back and say "good try, fella"
  6. barrett has never seen a first pitch he didn't like
  7. this is more a referendum on whether people like meph's knowledge or dislike his arrogance.
  8. remember the good ol days when dopirak hit home runs?
  9. not with this offense and bullpen, we shouldn't. The Cubs really aren't as good on paper as you think they are.
  10. Who said Eyre should go to AAA? I said Eyre should go away
  11. this poll looks really silly now
  12. he had one poor inning and was hurt by a derosa error. His WHIP for the game was below 1.00, he just got unlucky today.
  13. glad i stuck up for howry earlier this year when he wasn't pitching well. If his arm is right, he's a very solid reliever.
  14. another reliever with a solid ERA and terrible WHIP
  15. can't wait for the cubs to blow this game somehow
  16. with slow, lousy-hitting catcher at the plate... yes, this is one spot i agree with the bunt
  17. 20/20 hindsight... it's the wrist injury that did it; otherwise he's a 30 HR, 900 OPS guy consistently.
  18. this guy's ERA belies a pretty damn lousy WHIP... averages about a walk per inning. That'll catch up with him.
  19. oh there's no way we're getting runs off that guy.
  20. Rapada came in to face Ibanez (a lefty) and then lefty for Howry to face Sexson (a righty). It's funny that Lou knows Rapada is a LOOGY and he's had him on the team for a day. He's had Ohman all season and doesn't know Ohman's a LOOGY yet. THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A LOOGY!!1111!ONE!
  21. Fortunately that won't be a problem, as the Cubs were done scoring after about 20 minutes of game time.
  22. way to put in a righty when two of the next FOUR hitters are lefties, lou
