meh, doesn't look that irresponsible to me. a 133 pitch start at one point, and then a string of starts going 125-125-115. i'm not sure what to think about trading for hamels. on the one hand, he's already 30 and having a pitcher signed at $20m+ for more than 5 years is pretty terrifying. on the other hand, he's been about as reliable as any front line starter in the game for the past several years, so you would think/hope that maybe he's one of those guys who won't collapse or suffer major injuries before his mid 30s. although that's not really working out for matt cain, verlander, sabathia, cliff lee, roy halladay, etc. i would probably hold off if for no other reason that jon lester is only marginally worse than hamels, and all lester will cost is money. hamels is good enough to bring back a top prospect, or three good/solid prospects.
