agreed A guy hitting .179 with zero power should never be intentionally walked. i'd walk him to get to a guy who has 5 hits in 97 ABs with 54 Ks as a professional.

well Carroll was hitting like .180 so it is not like he was a good hitter or anything. he's not, but you still have a guy behind him who's pretty much an auto out. If he hacks away he may GIDP. If not, you get Taveras up with two outs, and the bunt isn't a great option since the guys at all the other bases have to beat out a throw.

seriously, why not walk carroll to get to lopez (who can't hit) and Tavares (who can't do anything except bunt)
