  1. great info from the phillies announcers: Chris Wheeler: I think he [soriano] signed a 7 year deal Gary Matthews: 7 years, a hundred and something
  2. the bus landed upright and from what i understand all the kids were rescued safely
  3. yeah well i'm sure that if they knew why it fell down they would've prevented it in the first place
  4. yes, i don't think it would've been a hard catch if jones had taken a normal route.
  5. I really am rooting for him. I for one am rooting completely against him.
  6. only in the national league would jason kendall ever be walked. Even now I'm not sure he should be.
  7. honestly jones is just brutal against lefties... i don't care if he just hit an excuse-me double
  8. how about those fundamentals by rowand? completely missing the cutoff man on a play where they had no chance at the plate.
  9. don't worry cedeno will knock him in! (kidding)
  10. is there a worse 9-2 pitcher in baseball than claudio vargas?
  11. feel free to call strikes on pitches that go across the plate, blue
  12. Team L-W L% GB L10 Exp L-W -------------------------------------------------- Tampa Bay 66-40 .623 --- 8-2 68-38 Pittsburgh 62-42 .596 3.0 8-2 63-41 Cincinnati 62-45 .579 4.5 6-4 60-47 Washington 60-46 .566 6.0 6-4 65-41 Houston 60-46 .566 6.0 5-5 60-46 Looks like Pedro Alvarez might be joining his former teammate David Price next year.
  13. Well just as an exercise I'm going to figure out who I'd take from this team if I had to take into account age, contract and production. ARam Zambrano Rich Hill Marshall Marmol I guess Theriot doesn't make the cut, but he'd be in my next group with Murton, Wuertz, Lilly and maybe DeRosa. Now if you're asking who are the five best players on the team, Theriot doesn't even come close.
  14. You're off by a mile. Theriot has 119 TBs in 322 ABs. If we tack on 19 TBs, his SLG is still only .428. But if you take out his CS, his OBP drops from .351 to .337. So yeah, this strange OPS figure that you're using goes up, but not to .800, and his "slugging" is well short of .480.
  15. I think it says guys don't like playing behind Rich. He is slow, throws lots of pitches and really doesn't get the defense involved (Lots of K's and flyballs). fielders tend to get involved when there's a fly ball
  16. wow waited over 3 years to make a post and he brings the thunder with the first post.
  17. hey mutts, make yourselves useful for once
  18. http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070731&content_id=2119840&vkey=news_stl&fext=.jsp&c_id=stl If you really wanted him, and you couldn't beat a deal of Rajai Davis and a PTBNL (probably nothing good), then it's your own fault, Walt.
  19. the radio broadcaster was confused as to why Colvin was pulled also Maybe the Cubs decided they are sick and tired of seeing the dog crap that is Jacque Jones playing CF and decided to call up Colvin. boy, you want dog crap... imagine colvin in the bigs right now. I think his IsoD would be negative.
  20. A stud with a 4.07 minor league ERA and a 1.35 minor league WHIP. Generally speaking, it's best not to analyze a player's value based on one month in the big leagues.
  21. I'll also note that Cliff's BABIP - .340 - is disturbingly high, given that he is a slow player who doesn't hit line drives at an especially good rate. If that comes back down to normal, which for him might not even be .300, he's going to be next to useless unless he adds some pop.
  22. I do agree with this, b/c RF who can get on base a decent amount and hit for power are generally pretty easy to find. Still, Jock's dog pile performance this year is disturbing. If he really is a .305 OBP, sub-.350 SLG player the rest of the year, that's going to be really hard to overcome, especially with catcher providing next to no offense.
