  1. Why is that post called for? To put your question in another way, why is it uncalled for?
  2. Burrell had a .299/.413/.552/.965 line at Wrigley coming into this game. We really should find a way to make him a Cub.
  3. This game thread has brought me back to the ESPN message board days of overreaction and a general lack of baseball knowledge.
  4. fixed That works too. i said that because Barrett has been brutal for the Padres (236/236(!)/303). He's had a Jock-esque nosedive from his 2006 numbers.
  5. i don't get why people are so uncomfortable with the back of the rotation, but aren't concerned that the offense regularly has jones, floyd, kendall/k. hill and theriot in it.
  6. hey this pitcher has always had control problems! let's swing at everything!
  7. At this point I just want them to send Jones to the moon. He doesn't hit for power any more so he's completely worthless.
  8. Wrong. Marquis=Longball Pitcher has sucked for awhile now Hill=Started off well but sucks now Marshall=Sucks now. boy and some people think jim hendry reacts based on too small of a sample size
  9. hey if you're gonna lose, might as well lose big. go mets!
  10. amazing what a couple of bad starts against the best offense in the league will do to people's perceptions of the starting staff.
  11. yeah mostly because the phillies aren't done scoring
  12. more like he's been lucky on balls put in play. He still doesn't walk and his power hasn't returned, so he's pretty useless.
  13. according to the BP odds, how many NL teams have a better chance of making the playoffs than the chicago cobs? Answer: one.
  14. that's weird box score has 2-4 with one double. :? I thought his last hit was a single and an error by the LF. that would be a terrible scoring decision... the ball was blooped short of the LF who almost made a very good catch, but the ball popped out of his glove and rolled away. Yeah, Murton would've only been at first if he hadn't dived for the ball, but you still can't change him with an error there. The way I look at it, he shouldn't have dove if it was a hit anyhow. Also, I think the error should have been Rowand's for biffing on the ball for a throw to second. no it wasn't a stupid dive in the way that jock's was on iguchi (when he missed by three feet) - the ball was in the guy's glove but rolling a little bit, and when he hit the ground it came out. Almost a really nice play, and not an ill-advised dive at all.
  15. I was okay with Jock in CF, but after last night's game and the past week or so, I really don't know. His fielding was bad last night, and he hasn't shown any power at all. I'd give him another week or two, but if he doesn't show any power then just throw him on the bench and give Pie a shot. He's got upside, and at the very least he'll help you in the field. Especially when fly ball pitchers (Hill, Lilly) are in the game.
  16. this is great: Projectile Green Turtle Shell Involved In Controversial IndyCar Race Finish http://www.theonion.com/content/files/images/Projectile-Green.jpg
  17. can't say i envy the catchers in this one. Then again, even if Hill/Kendall get worn down by the summer heat, does it really matter? They already can't hit.
  18. I was reading something on their page - them being better that the Cubs haven't suffered many injuries this year - but you know what? One thing Hendry did that was good, was to built a team of guys who are generally less prone to injuries. Marquis isn't good, but he's durable. Zambrano and Lilly are good for 30+ starts most years, and Rich Hill's health has never been a question. Outside of last year, Lee is always healthy, as are Soriano, Jones, Murton, and a bunch of other guys. In general, the guys you'd expect to get hurt - Floyd, Prior, Wood, even Dempster - have gotten hurt. The guys you'd expect to be healthy have been healthy. Yeah, freak injuries can happen, but some guys are just more durable than others. I'm just glad we're not built out of team of Glass Joes like we were last season.
  19. cub fans owning the team = cool cub fans running the team = uncool
