  1. the orioles pitching staff makes the phillies bullpen look good. It's basically Erik Bedard and a bunch of trash.
  2. On a side note, I was pissed when I went to the Baseball Reference site and there was already a sponsor for Geovany Soto. I wanted to just write "Geovany Soto"
  3. personally i'm partial to "A Dying Cub Fan's Last Request"
  4. i'd still keep kendall as the regular starter because he's shown good OBP ability since coming over, but he provides no power and his defense sucks. Blanco is basically useless and shouldn't play the rest of the year. I'd like to see Soto get about 1/3 of the playing time; more if Kendall hits poorly over the next 10 days.

  6. they better not be partying over one win over the dodgers... plus they have to do it again early tomorrow afternoon
  7. starting? he's been a bargain all year. i meant that there really isn't any debate anymore When he was hitting in the .240's for the longest time he didn't look all that great, but now he's coming around and contributing. yeah, he hit .231 in May, but otherwise has been very good His 2nd half OPS is almost beginning with a 6. Hes had a good last 2 days I hope hes coming around He has the third-best OBP among Cub regulars... he may be tiring some but he's given very good production for the price.
  8. not really, a back up outfielder. I liked him when I saw him live in Peoria. He seems like a Theriot type. Not much power, but a patient approach (.377 OBP as a minor leaguer). Brian is right, he profiles more as a 4th/5th outfielder who can give you pretty good defense in any OF spot. I'd definitely prefer him over Pagan in the future.
  9. why not let fuld hit instead of floyd? You've got a 6 run lead, give the kid a shot.
  10. i'll have to root against derek lowe tomorrow, but i've always liked him since his days in boston. his career has really had some amazing ups and downs - good middle reliever, great closer, lousy closer with lots of blown saves, Cy Young contending starter, terrible starter (2004) who redeemed himself with some great efforts in the playoffs. He's settled in as a solid #3 type in Los Angeles now.
  11. no big deal, not like this game's important or anything
  12. if only we could figure out a way to hit every ground ball through the infield, we'd be unstoppable
  13. no more blanco and less kendall, plz
  14. boy who would've thought soto could go 2-3 with a walk and 2 runs scored? Nothing in his offensive production at Iowa suggested that he do something like that.
  15. good scrappy points for pierre, but he was hilariously far from catching that
  16. Has to have been Soto. I don't think so. Lou seemed to be yelling at Monroe in the dugout. plus it's just as possible that Monroe read the bunt sign as a hit & run. The other possibility is that Soto was supposed to make sure he got the bunt down on that pitch, but when a pitcher is having trouble throwing strikes, there's no reason to send a runner in motion.
  17. There seems to be little question that he did. the sac bunt makes a lot more sense than monroe running
  18. nice work monroe, why the hell would you run on a pitcher who can't throw strikes?
  19. this guy is struggling with his command, and the next hitter is terrible. Don't give away an out.
