  1. Wouldn't it be so Cubs-like for Lofton to begin his decline after the Cubs sign him?
  2. I like that idea, but I have a feeling Soriano won't be playing CF.
  3. But that's post-humidor Coors. Now, if it were pre-humidor Coors, I would be impressed.
  4. This too: http://www.fireloupiniella.com/
  5. According to Steve Stone, he's 36.
  6. Only if he agrees to it. He'll agree if the fans/media bad-mouth him about leaving a game early and demand that he be traded to the O's for a backup 2B/OF and a couple of relievers.
  7. This team is going to be in a bind 5 years from now anyway. Schmidt or no Schmidt.
  8. I'm just curious as to why Lugo's defense is suspect? I always thought he was about average defensively. I lived in Florida for about a year and saw him play on multiple occasions and I don't remember any problems with his D.
  9. Well, if that rumor is true, it would only be a $3 mil base. If Floyd ends up making $8 mil, he'd obviously have a good year.
  10. Why? If you put Soriano at 2B, you could then acquire a corner OF who could at least put up Soriano's numbers or better. The average corner OF outproduces the average 2B. A team with a slugger in RF and Soriano at 2B would be better off than a team with Soriano in RF and DeRosa at 2B. Even after you factor in Soriano's poor defense at 2B, that lineup would still produce more runs.
  11. Who's that girl in your avatar?
  12. Murton doesn't have Hawpe's power. His career SLG in the minors is over 100 pts higher than Murton's.
  13. The Rockies wanted Duke for him, so they'd probably ask for Hill. Plus, where do you put him? If you have Soriano in RF and Murton in LF, where does Hawpe play?
  14. It still wouldn't make any sense for the Brewers to deal Sheets within the division.
  15. I think this is why I'm uncomfortable with siging Floyd. Murton doesn't need a platoon partner. Jones needs a right handed platoon partner. That's what our target should be. If we trade Jones for a right handed hitter with severe splits, Jones would be a good signing. I think Jason Michaels would make a good platoon partner with Jones. With Michaels' career line of .303/.387/.464/.852 vs lefties and Jones' career line of .295/.343/.493/.837 vs righties it would give you an average of .299/.365/.479/.844. That's pretty good production from CF assuming that's where they would be sharing playing time.
  16. I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere about Hendry eating all of the turkey.
  17. What are everyone's thoughts on Ryan Klesko instead of Floyd? Is he available?
  18. Do they have to be American players? Kosuke Fukudome
  19. I always thought he was a bit overrated. His career road splits: .261 .351 .471 .822
  20. That would be amazing. I would love it. That would be like Ryno part 2.
  21. Factor out his horrible 03, and his career #s are pretty good. Just hope he figures out how to hit away from CBP.
