    2024 MLB Draft Day 1 Thread

    Draft Day is finally upon us! You've found the right place to follow the day's events, and you're all invited to be a part of the conversation.

    Cubs Video

    This year’s draft will again feature just 20 rounds. Day 1, which begins tonight at 6 p.m. CT and can be viewed on ESPN and MLB Network, will include the first and second rounds as well as both competitive balance rounds and all compensation rounds. There will be 74 selections total.

    The Cubs will make two picks tonight, with the first one coming 14th overall in the first round. They will also draft 57th overall . 

    We're excited to bring back the Cubs Draft Tracker which will be kept up-to-date not only during the draft but through the entire signing period. So keep coming back for updates!

    There will be a lot going on during the draft both on and off this website. We will try to make updates to the story (and add links) as things happen, so keep refreshing! Otherwise, there will be plenty of activity in the comments. This is the place to be tonight during the draft!

    Of course, we invite all of you to join us on tonight's livestream, which will run for the entirety of tonight's draft.

    The draft will continue tomorrow, Monday, with Round 3, beginning at 1 p.m. CT.

    4 picks left before us and Montgomery, Tibbs, C Smith, Yesavage are all still on the board. I’d be happy with any of the 4. Just need one surprise to to ensure one of them is there at 14.

    There it is. As I just posted, that ensures one of Montgomery, C Smith, Tibbs, Yesavage is there at 14

    I wouldn’t be shocked if the Cubs didn’t end ppup with any of the guys you mentioned.

    Rainer off the board. Works for me -- Cubs probably weren't in on a HS SS anyway.

    I don't see the point of an underslot in a draft like this.

    Only 3 more picks ahead of the Cubs... Montgomery and Yesavage still on the board... Tibbs and Cam Smith too... guaranteed a shot at 1 of them

    I am hoping for a college player. I don’t like HS pitchers.

    Longenhagen had bad intel at first. Boston took Montgomery.
