I have no clue, but there's a problem. I remember going to the 2000 SL Championship Series and the place being packed. Those were good times.

I thought this was interesting. On the Jackson Sun there's a poll asking about the future of the Diamond Jaxx. Here's the question and the current results:

After a successful season, do you feel more positive or negative about the future of the Diamond Jaxx?

57.4%

Positive

42.6%

Negative

I'd be interested to see where minor league attendance numbers are nation wide.

Part of what fuels minor league attendance is a connection with the MLB team. I take it that there are lots of Cards' fans in Jackson so that may be part of the problem.

We have a Low A team here. They had very strong attendance the 1st few years but numbers have been dropping steadily ever since. Part of the problem here is that the O's aren't as good as they once were and interest has waned as a result.

The other big complaint I hear is that aside from the ticket prices which are next to nothing ($6-$12) everything else is pretty expensive. I don't mind paying $4 for a bag of peanuts at Camden Yards but don't see why I should have to pay the same at Perdue Stadium.

Our team still has it's share of die hards but it's also hard to sustain that enthusiasm when the roster almost completely turns over every year.

Good points all around. I agree that maybe it has something to do with the parent club, but I still can't understand why there were so few people to see Nomar on his rehab assignment. The ticket prices are great ($4 GA)and there are several ways to get in the games for free in addition to the 2 for 1 ticket games. Maybe it's that baseball is the third sport in West Tennessee behind basketball (the college basketball scene is strong) and High School football. In addition, families are busier than ever before. If Jr. has activities after school until 6:30 and both parents work it's not likely they're going to spend what little free time they have at the park.
