Four Diamond Jaxx Players Named to Post-Season All-Star Team

Four current or former members of the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx have been selected to the year-end Southern League All-Star Team. 1B/DH Brandon Sing, LHP Renyel Pinto, RHP Ricky Nolasco and OF Matt Murton were honored for their excellence throughout the 2005 season.

 

Sing was named the Designated Hitter. He is currently tied for the Southern League lead in home runs with twenty-five. Sing has also tied the all-time Diamond Jaxx record for most homers in a season. Sing has already set an all-time record for most walks in a season.

 

Nolasco was named the best Right-Handed Pitcher. The Rialto, CA native set a Diamond Jaxx record for most wins in a season. Nolasco is currently 13-3 with a 3.01 ERA, 5th lowest in the Southern League. Nolasco is also eleven strikeouts away from tying the all-time Diamond Jaxx record, set last season by Renyel Pinto.

 

Pinto was named the best Left-Handed Pitcher. Pinto currently has the second lowest ERA in the Southern League. Heading into his final regular season start on Thursday, Pinto has a 10-3 record with a 2.44 ERA.

 

Murton is the lone former Diamond Jaxx player on the All-Star team. Murton played in seventy-eight games with the Diamond Jaxx, hitting .342 with eight homers and forty-six runs batted in. He was called up to the Chicago Cubs on July 7th. He is currently playing the outfield for the Triple-A Iowa Cubs.
