Team Motivation

I know there are those who will disagree...but I think overall the Cubs have the makings of a pretty darn good team...however, I think they are horribly motivated/managed.

 

Take for instance the games against the Cardinals this year. I personally think the team "gets up" for these games....and I think you see the results in the team playing pretty well (you could say the same thing about the White Sox Series)....however, I think they are just too lax and indifferent against the rest of the teams...I don't see the drive and focus that a good team should have...I lay that right at the feet of the manager. I think this is Dusty's greatest (of many) shortfalls.

Wasn't that supposed to be Dusty's strength, that guys wanted to play him everyday?

"getting up for games" is a huge pet peeve of mine. These guys are paid thousands or millions of dollars to play a game. They have no excuse to take days off mentally or only "get up" for certain games.

That it was...but I just don't see it...they may "like" Dusty(and that's debatable see Todd Walker) but I don't see it as a "run through a wall for the guy" like...I see it as a "friendly bartender" kind of like....its nice...but nobody cares.
