Ron mentioned things on the Sunday broadcast. I listed some of the things and Jon listed some.

They're selling signed bats, signed baseballs including a ball signed by the 2005 Cubs, Rich Hill's cleats, lunch with various players/coaches and a night in the broadcast booth, which is why we're all here trying to figure out how to raise cash. I have asked the Jaxx is they could include some game used stuff and lineup cards. It'll be lots of fun!

I have it in your message. I also have one from mhuber. I'm making a note right now to store the numbers in my cellular.

Should we post a general request for donations, since it's a lot easier for some folks to just send $ rather than bid or donate on stuff? :-k

Would that be too crass?

I sent in a token $20 donation. I wish it could be more, but I'm a bit strapped right now. I'm also planning on posting about a bleacher tickets I can throw into the pot. Depending on the response here, I may do a one-day auction on EBay and just see if anyone bites on some future bleacher tix.

I just posted the Pittsburgh tix in general discussions, since I'll end up just giving them to friends if they aren't bid upon. I don't think EBay is the best option for those tickets.

In regards to the donation, I'll leave that up to Tim. We have a good amount, but you never know how one of those things is going to go.

Do you have any idea how much you're going to be short DJAXX?

I just told Serena that could depend on whether or not there are any politicians in the auction. We should be close. The fact remains the same that most of the people want something with resale value and a night in hte booth simply does not have resale value. In addition, there aren't many people out there wanting to spend cash, especially with the ownership STILL threatening to move the team. With that being said, several things should go for a great price.

You have my cell. I'm interested in some of the memorabilia and if you need a little extra for a last minute push, let me know.

Have we decided how high we think we should go?

We haven't decided, but I can't see going much over $400, especially if they won't let us mention the site.

So, we don't know yet if they'll let us mention the site? Or do we know for sure that they won't let us.

Ron said that he would have to talk about it with the GM and then he'd let me know.

Oh ok. To me that would be a big deal. While it would be cool to be on the radio, I don't know that it does the site much good if we can't mention it.

Agreed that it's really important. However, me and brinoch have discussed how important it is to show the organizations that we support them and their charities. I don't know that it's $400 important for a game with no mention, but I'm sure Ron will come through if at all possible.

I understand Ron has to check. However, he's mentioned NSBB on the air in the past, and if NSBB is the official buyer of the airtime -- which I think needs to be the case -- I can't imagine that they wouldn't allow a few mentions of Tim or Chris from northsidebaseball.com, .

If it is forbidden outright, then we won't bid. Seems that would be very odd way to run a charity auction, and I've been involved in a LOT of charity fundraising in the past.

Talked with Chris a couple of minutes ago, and right now we're the top bidder for the night with Ron Potesta at $75. He thinks it'll go higher, but that we'll likely get it for significantly cheaper than we estimated. He's also placed a bid, which we are also winning, for the ceremonial first pitch at a ballgame -- the thought being to combine the night in the booth and the ceremonial first pitch into an event.

He also relayed that he spoke with Jaye Dunn, the wife of pitching coach Alan Dunn, and she was very impressed with the site's participation, and they are arranging for a Q & A with Coach Dunn -- for 30 minutes! Also, Chris volunteered to Jaye that we'd be willing to make another donation to JDRF if she could help set-up similar interviews with Von Joshua and Bobby Dickerson -- and she thought that was a definite possibility.

In addition, Chris signed all the bids as Northsidebaseball.com, and he said that he received a lot of feedback. Apparently, Ron's broadcasts are more listened to than perhaps Ron believes. Smile A lot of folks were very impressed that the site was reaching out to the Diamond Jaxx and helping out in such a fashion.

Sounds to me like this is going to be a successful endeavor all around!

Talked again with Chris, and I have great news! We won the auction! The night in the booth went for $300 -- which is about what Chris expected, so there's a little left over. In addition, Chris also won the bid on the ceremonial first pitch, but he'll talk a little more about that. The Diamond Jaxx folks were very appreciative of our efforts on behalf of their charity auction, and it seems the interview with Dunn, and later with Joshua and Dickerson are very likely to occur.

Moreover, Chris spoke with the Diamond Jaxx GM Jeff Parker, who said that not only will they be checking the site out, but that one of the ways we can help them out is placing a link to their site (we have their express permission) on the NSBB frontpage. He's also willing to do an interview.

We can expect a lot of visitors and registrants from the DJaxx in the next 24 hours.

I'll say it here pending the announcement in the general forums, which I'll probably miss --

CONGRATS to Djaxx -- you really drove this effort, and I think it's a great idea, a great cause, and it's something that's already paying dividends beyond just the broadcast booth opportunity.

And congrats to everyone who stepped up and volunteered extra $$ or time or auction items -- let's face it, we rock! :)

Job well done!! =D>

Thanks, Serena!

I have some absolutely wonderful news to share! I just got back to the office but need to get home. I'll post a full recap of the events of the night when I get back!
