Well I’m good for a couple days. Win the first two against the Cards and I might pay attention again.

Good news! It's actually your turn to start the game thread!

Brewers are absolutely winning the next 4 so they’re all must wins. Ian Happ should be starting for Heyward tomorrow.

Heyward the last 2 weeks: .351 .478 .703 1.181

Happ the last 2 weeks: .217 .240 .348 .588

He had a nice road trip but he’s gone ice cold since getting home and he’s a huge liability in the lineup with he’s slumping. Happ will at least take walks and provide a power threat.

Their season was lost blowing all those games with mismanagement of the bullpen. Really they should be 5 games better than they are. But losing 2/3 to the Reds is inexcusable.Yes, the excuses will come with injuries, but this team has more talent and more resources than the Cards and Brewers yet they will probably finish 3rd and out of the playoffs.

They have to go 8-2 in the final 10. Brewers have an easy schedule but they are on the road for the last 6 at least.

You're only right about Happ having more power right now; Heyward still has a .385 OBP over the last week, so the whole "he doesn't walk" thing is weird. Odds are both guys give you pretty much the same value with sustained playing time, so I have no problem playing them based on matchups.

That will definitely be brought up, probably by everyone. The injuries to Hamels, Baez, Rizzo, Bryant, Willy and Kimbrel certainly played a big role in likely falling 2-5 games short here. It’s hard to argue they didn’t, I also think turnover is coming and Theo knows he has to do better.

the point is that they will have blown it to the brewers without yelich. baez/rizzo is a bigger combined loss, but I dont want to hear about injuries if the brewers come back on us again without their superhuman player.

Well you’re going to hear it because it is partially the reason for falling short. Javy missed the final 6 vs the Brewers (we won 1 of them and they had Yelich for all them). Now no Rizzo too. The injuries I mentioned to all above are a factor, they aren’t the main factor but it’s going to be rightfully brought up.

i'm not saying it didn't play a role. i'm saying I dont want it brought up by the organization as an excuse when a)the brewers lost their mvp and b)the cubs should have put the brewers away long before September. we got lucky in the sense that it's going to take less than 90 wins to get a wild card spot this season, and they fugged it up long before the injuries.

Theo won't use it as an excuse, because he knows it will come off as an excuse when he and everyone knows it was because the team just wasn't consistently good enough even when healthy.

There are going to be changes, and it's going to be more than just the manager.
