Hendricks so far: 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 35-23 pitches-strikes

Good to see. I'd be interested to hear where his velocity was at.

Hendricks' final line: 3.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 45-27 pitches-strikes. Must have hit his pitch count. The run he gave up was inherited by James Pugliese.

Not sure he can start on Saturday if he only had a 45 pitch pitch count today.

Ha, I came here hoping for this answer as well. I'm really curious if this was a bothersome thing at all (before going to the DL) or if he just had a tired arm and rest could potentially help.

The Hendricks we saw before going to the DL had no room for error (4.51 FIP would agree with this). And I think the lack of velocity also forced him to nibble a little more, resulting in more walks. He really needs that 87-89 over the 84-86, and have the separation with the changeup too.

If it hasn't improved, he will still help the team, but if he could be good to great Hendricks again, that could of course be huge. He seems like the Wild Card right now.

The Smokies broadcast is notoriously bad, both with the video and sound quality and announcing, so I didnt expect the announcers to be aware that people would be watching Hendricks' first rehab start and be interested in such information . Unsurprisingly, they only reported two velocity readings. Both were on change-ups. One was 82, the other 83.
