Matt Szczur is having a pretty respectable year. Probably not ready to play a significant role, but I can see him as a Sept callup and getting some starts at the top of the lineup. Though there are a lot of options for the OF right now. Lake, Jackson, Ha, Bogusevic so they may be cautious with Szczur.

Rock Shoulders blasted a homer that looked like it when into the Mississippi River at first. It nearly left the park and the only player to hit one into the river at Modern Woodman Park (Then John O'Donnell) in Davenport was Barry Bond's brother. Very impressive HR for Rock and he had a double that he crushed at well.

I was really impressed with Almora. His presence at the plate is very good and he's got a nice swing.

Heesch was pitching a great game (had a no hitter through 4) and then Armando Rivero just imploded along with the rest of the bullpen.

Yeah, Rivero's debut was Concepcion-like. Just ugly.

What was his stuff like?

Ironicly, I was at the game where Concepcion just looked awful last year against QC. I think that was his Low-A debut.

Rivero looked really uncomfortable out there. His fastball was getting hammered and he didn't have great control of his other pitches. It literally looked like batting practice compared to how well Heesch kept the River Bandits in check.

On a side note, Carlos Correa is really good for QC. I can't see him staying in low-A much longer. There rumor is Appel will start down here so perhaps a roster shuffle will happen soon.
