I am wondering....why do we have to wait until the major league portion of the draft is over, before we start the minor league draft?

Couldn't we start the minor league draft now? It would give us a better chance of finishing both before the seasoin starts?

Thoughts?

Let's wait a couple more rounds first, IMO.

btw - I picked up Bazinga's first pick in the prospect draft in the Latos trade.

that's going to be a problem.

Experiencing Turbulence receives Bazingas 1st round pick in prospect draft in Peavy deal.

hmmph...He might have mentioned that to me before the trade. He probably tried to block out having dealt for Peavy, let alone giving up his first round prospect pick for him!

tim, he had the last pick in the first round of the prospect draft, so an easy fix would be for you to get the first pick in the second round (just dropping one slot from the trade you made).

Yeah, I'll work something out with him.

Sorry Tim. I completey forgot about giving this pick up. I sent you a counter offer with two options.

we are barely getting through one draft and you want to have two going?

it's not like the second one would make people go slower in the major league draft.

also, isn't shane getting married in a few days? i don't know if he's going on honeymoon right after but at least for a few days he's presumably not going to be participating (unless he wants it to be a very short marriage haha)

Shane needs to get his priorities straight. What is more important; fantasy baseball or his marriage?

Why not? We had to ditch the prospect draft after barely completing two rounds last year because the ML draft took so long.

Those of us who need more than two prospects could burn a waiver wire pick, or wait a week and pick up the player for free.

Yeah, I'm looking to pick up at least 4, maybe 5 depending on how many are available.

last year we made it just a free for all after the draft. i know i grabbed randall delgado and zach lee.

i suppose we could just keep going until nobody wants to go any more.

To me, the whole point of having a draft is to avoid a "quickest draw wins" free-for-all situation. If people only want 1-2 guys they can just pass/dropout.

Agreed. Not everyone is on at the same time so those of us that have league access more would be at an advantage. Plus I would rather not use a waiver claim to pick up minor leaguers that could be drafted. Those of us that need more than two minor leaguers should just be able to continue the draft until our minor roster is full.

I also think we need to start the minor league draft ASAP. We are only in the beginning of round 6 of 12 in the major league draft and there are only 23 days until opening day.

I don't think there's any issue with the draft dragging into the first week or so of the season. We'll make it as many rounds as people want to keep drafting, but we'll encourage people to pass if they're done.

Won't you run into the issue of some of these players being picked up off waivers if you drag it into the season or being promoted due to injury? We're also getting conflicting info from you and Juan regarding the prospect draft. Juan posted in another thread that it would be only two rounds.

I agree with this.

If Juan wants commish duties back, I'm plenty happy to return them. :)
