Did you click that link above and give twitter permission to use the nsbb application?

Posting in this thread after allowing Twitter ot authorize your posts will cross post to your twitter account.

posting in the primary baseball forums will tweet from your account with a link to the post in your twitter account.

Not sure I'm going to keep this going, though. I'm not pleased with how it's working.

I'm not sure I'd want a twitter post for every comment I make on here, and I can't imagine I'd be the only one.

yeah, that's what I mean.

I'm likely to scrap it for now until I figure out how to limit it to new topics.

Tim, there's a plug in called ADDTHIS. All it is code that you add to your site and you can click on any thread and tweet it. If you want reference just check out my sites. It's really awesome and it's just a mouse click and it shorten's your URL. I'm pretty sure they make it for PHPBB. You don't want to do this automatically because it's basically spamming twitter with crap. Only tweet the threads that are interesting to people out there who search twitter.

Oh, and it adds all the social sites out there. Twitter, Facebook, etc...

One more suggestion. Why don't you have a Cubs news forum? You can post all the cubs news of the day and tweet that.

I used to have the addthis button - I think it got clicked about 10 times in a year by someone other than myself.

For the news forum, are you suggesting a forum that's read only for most people, but that I post Cubs news to? The biggest reason would be speed - if you're using social media to post news as opposed to analysis, the key is getting things out there quickly. Since I'm tied up quite a bit with my day job, I can't hope to keep up when it comes to getting news out fast. If I'm limiting things down to myself or a small group posting things, then the focus needs to be on unique analysis instead of getting news out. On the other hand, the forum as a whole is incredible at posting news quickly - that was the original thought behind tweeting everything.

However, even just from my testing I saw how much spam it would create.

Give the mods your user name and password for your twitter account and tell them to post worthy threads. That's what I do.

The news section could be all the cubs current news. Anybody can create the threads and people comment on them, and of course you tweet the [expletive] out of them.

As it is most news is posted in the Cubs Discussion, so that may be a bit of overkill. I guess.
