Basically saying that PV's start tonight should determine the overall equality of the trade with the Padres. I love this gem:

But the four pitchers acquired by the Padres haven't overwhelmed anyone. The most successful pitcher -- left-hander Clayton Richard -- is on the disabled list and has a 5-9 record and 3.88 ERA in 18 starts.

Sure, Richard is on the DL and his W/L record this year is poor but he plays on a terrible team and his peripherals are better than his record would indicate. His line last year was 14-9, 3.75 ERA, 201IP, 1.4WHIP, 7K per start. Not too shabby and when you include the fact that the Padres saved $56M this trade was a HUGE win for them. PV has done nothing and even if he throws a shutout tonight the trade is terribly lopsided.

Richard is a below-average pitcher, but Peavy is an abomination.

Below average Richard + $56M is much better than Peavy.
