Saw we were one of nine teams who watched him throw yesterday. I'm still hopeful we make another signing that requires a solid signing bonus, so it's good to see us keeping tabs on him anyway. Plus, there seems to be quite a few Central American players that haven't signed yet as well. I don't even think Peguero has signed yet, has he?

Rangers signed Loux today. Ricketts continues to show me that everything he's been saying is just talk.

I agree with Truffle here in that, while I would've been happy if they had taken that chance, Barrett did have serious enough medical concerns. The fact that a first round pick (even though he was over-drafted, he was still thought of as a first round possibility) ended up with 312K says a lot - it suggests to me that a lot of teams had concerns.

Nah, it's not just this. I made that remark after the Rothschild news came out and vented somewhat. I also made it before the blurb showed up he only got 312,000. Which does show he must be pretty messed up right now.

 

But, you can't say that it's not a concern at this point either. For a team that's supposedly "committed" to their farm system, we haven't exactly proved it whatsoever since Ricketts took over.

He's had a tear in his labrum and a shoulder injury since he was drafted. He had bone chips removed while at TAMU. And there were reports that he was struggling to stay above 90. I'm glad the Cubs didn't sign him.
