Its bad. fix it. Now that DeRosas off the table, and Aramis' return is seemingly on the horizon, its time to fix the achilles heal of this team, being the bullpen. Clearly, Carlos Marmol is no longer 8th inning material. Sean Marshall is the only capable one of the bunch, but for some reason, Lou doesnt like to use the guy properly.

 

The Orioles suposedly want to move George Sherill. Cubs and Orioles like making trades. Why not make a trade for George Sherill? Huh.

 

Also, may as well just stock up on DFAd relievers and hope to catch lightening in a bottle, because I cant imagine it getting much worse than what we have now.

There's a lot of bad things about this team. I don't think our bad upper management will be able to make any part of this team that much better before the deadline.

It is. Any kind of guarenteed bullpen improvement is going to be expensive.

Because he'll probably turn into his crappy self again as soon as he's traded. That's usually what happens with crappy relievers who are having surpringly good seasons do when they get traded at midseason.

it's both. really it wouldn't matter howl ou uses it. the pitchers just arent good.

We need to get Guzman back first. I think the transition was about to be made before he went down.

As long as that appearence is the 8th inning, but all of the sudden, uh oh, theres a guy on 2nd and a righty coming up. Who cares if that righty is batting <.200, better go get that loogy out of there.

Using Marshall as more than a LOOGY would be improvement enough.

 

As has been said many times, it's ridiculous that Marshall has started many games, yet when he's in the bullpen, he can't be used for a full inning simply because he throws with his left hand.

I am still trying to figure out why Patton has a roster spot. He's rarely used and isn't very good even when he does pitch.
