Braun is already contributing to that offense, and LaPorta is an Indian. If you trade Fielder, you have Gamel and maybe Lawrie, that's not quite an assembly line, especially since Gamel isn't a lock to be a plus offensive first baseman.

What do you mean "once fielder is gone", Prince is very young and you guys would be wise to hold on to him.

 

The thing is, the Brewers pretty much have an assembly line of 1B/LF types who can mash the heck out of the ball. Fielder, Braun, LaPorta, and Gamel can all rake. I wouldn't be surprised to see Brett Lawrie join this group in three years if he can't stick at C or 3B.

 

If the Brewers end up trading Fielder away, they can replace him with someone younger, cheaper, and slightly less productive without the weight issues.

 

LaPorta is with the Indians now, but I guess your point stands
