Not earth shattering, but good trade for the Rangers:

The Rangers have reportedly acquired right-hander Dustin Nippert from the Diamondbacks for right-hander Jose Marte.

Nippert was the favorite to win the last spot in Arizona's bullpen going in, but he had an awful spring and greatly frustrated the Diamondbacks in the process. Now the talented 26-year-old will be the Rangers' problem. It's a great pickup for them, especially since they didn't have to give up a key piece of their deep farm system.

Rangers acquired RHP Dustin Nippert from the Diamondbacks for RHP Jose Marte.

Nippert's arrival would seem to leave one spot for Josh Rupe, Robinson Tejeda or Wes Littleton in the pen. Nippert could eventually be an option in the rotation, but as much as he's struggled this spring, that's not an option now. Nippert still has the well above average fastball-curveball combination to be a successful major leaguer if his command comes along. That the Rangers are getting him for an A-ball reliever makes this a fine pickup. Marte had a 5.43 ERA in 53 innings for low-A Clinton and high-A Bakersfield last season.
