Good for Steve. I guess that indicates the Cubs are committed and possibly even pretty high on Clevenger at catcher.

Looks like Steve is replacing the Astros' JR Towles who was HBP a while back.

I like Clevenger just because I enjoy following how little he strikes out. However Mark Reed has pinch-run for him before, which sounds like he's hideously immobile.

I have heard Clevenger was slow but he's a former second baseman so he can't be *that* immobile and also Mark Reed is rather athletic and with 3 catchers at Daytona, it's not surprising that they can use one to just pinch run.

I have seen Clevenger. He is not immobile. He will never be a base stealing threat and after catching for a few seasons his mobility will probably decline, but for now he has average speed. But Reed is fast. If Reed ever makes it to the show, it if be because of his small ball skills.

Clevenger has decent feet and agility, he's just not real quick and doesnt have much speed, which makes him a good project for catching. If you look at last yrs draft that makes, Colvin, Sammy, Lansford and Clevenger! Sounds like there was a good plan going into the draft and throw in Huseby and Roquet, its not too bad. (Roquet was signed before the draft of 06 because he was a 5th yr senior out of Cal Poly)
