Well, that cleared up nicely today.

Here are the current scenarios through Friday:

Cubs are in as the NL Central representative. They will be on the road come Wednesday either in New York, Philadelphia, Arizona, or San Diego.

Arizona is also in the playoffs, at least as a Wild Card, thanks to their win and the Mets loss.

Possible scenarios for Saturday:

NL West:

If the Diamondbacks win, they win the NL West and eliminate Colorado.

If the Padres win, they clinch a playoff spot and eliminate Colorado.

If both happen, the Cubs will be in Arizona on Wednesday.

NL East:

If the Phillies win and the Mets lose, the Phillies are the NL East champs, and the Mets are eliminated.

Colorado is basically relegated to needing a prayer to make the playoffs, after railing off 11 wins in a row, just from one loss.

The only scenario that has the Cubs playing in New York:

Mets win twice.

Padres lose twice.

Phillies lose once.

If the Rockies lose once:

Mets win one-game playoff Monday vs. Philly.

Phillies win one-game playoff Tuesday vs. San Diego.

If the Rockies win out too (this is the crazy scenario):

Mets win one-game playoff Monday vs. Philly.

Phillies win two-day playoff Tuesday/Wednesday against San Diego and Colorado.

I'm personally rooting for that last scenario. 4-way tie, Cubs get to face a worn-out team on Thursday.
