One of the unsung heroes of the 2003 season, Clement is rehabbing his right shoulder after last September's labrum surgery and hopes to come back later in the season with Boston as a 1-2 inning reliever. Clement said he's 80-perfect pain-free. He'll become a free agent in November. While his three-year, $25.5 million deal with Boston was a bust, Clement hopes to start again in '08. He'll likely sign a low-base, incentive-loaded contract, like Kerry Wood's current deal with the Cubs. "I hope I'm going to have interest," Clement told the Boston Globe. "I really don't know. I say that blindly. I think the way the market is, there's a lot of teams that will take a chance on somebody for cheap--baseball cheap."

wouldn't mind the Cubs signing him back on the cheap. Especially I Z moves on.

I'm afraid they'd treat him like Wade Miller though and hold on to him even if it's obvious he can't pitch anymore. The Cubs and "projects" scare me.

Yes. After labrum surgery, @ age 31?

I'm nostalgic, but not that nostalgic. Matty might never pitch well again.
