Hey guys, first year playing fantasy baseball. When I drafted my team, I liked it, but I also thought that my impression of it was probably off because I've never played before. Well, I'm in last place by a considerable margin to start off the season and I'm wondering if it is because my team sucks, or just bad luck in the beginning of the season. Maybe some of you Guru's could help me out.

Our league as a deep bench and it is a 10 team league. Categories are OPS, R, HR, RBI's, SB, ERA, WHIP, K, SV, Wins.

My Team:

1B: Nomar

2B: Uggla

SS: C. Guillen

3B: Rolen

C: Barrett

OF: Soriano

OF: Bonds

OF: Dye

Util: Hafner

BN: Ken Griffey Jr.

BN: Ray Durham

BN: Alou

BN: Chavez

BN: Huff

P:Zambrano

P:Carpenter (bittersweet)

P:Hill

P:Mariano Rivera

P:Wickman

P:Pettite

P:Boof Bonser

P:Maine

P:Gil Meche

P:Anthony Reyes

P:Kei Igawa

DL: Josh Johnson

DL: Nick Johnson

So what's the verdict? Did I just burn 150 bucks, anyone I can target, or should I just hold tight?

Thanks in advance...

Nomar is really going to hurt you at 1B considering your categories.

Uggla could have been a flash in the pan or he could be a stud. Big risk. I stayed away from him.

Guillen should be solid, IMO, especially where the pickings are slim at SS.

Rolen? I hope he stays healthy for you.

Barrett didn't look so hot to a lot of ppl but he missed time b/c of his injury (fluke) and punching AJ. Good pickup.

Your OF looks very nice. If Bonds stays healthy you're going to get awesome production.

Hafner is money.

I like your bench other than Chavez and Huff.

Who is available on waivers?

When did Saito go in your draft? I snagged him late. See if you can trade for him if he was. The price shouldn't be too steep.

Where did Stephen Drew go? He'd be a nice backup at SS.

Get rid of bonser, igawa, josh johnson (out 'til june?), and nick johnson (out for 1/2 a season).

Is Gordon (3B) available? Watch out for Bailey, Hughes, Lincecum, etc to come available when they're called up.

Nomar was the result of a misclick, I'm embarrassed to say. I meant to grab LaRoche and I picked Johnson instead, by the time it got back to me, Nomar was the only good option left.

Thanks for the ideas about who to pick up. I'm going to check it out tomorrow when I have a little bit more time.

My top two picks, Soriano and Hafner, have started slow and that's hurt me I think. Glad to see all is not lost though.

The worst thing a fantasy owner can do is over analyze a first week's performance. The only player I'm worried about is Alex Gordon, which is merely a result of him possibly being benched or sent down if he can't hit soon, which would be a shame. Kid's gonna be good if they keep with him.

Don't be flustered by starting slowly.

This is what I guessed. I'm having trouble coming to grips with the marathon that this season is going to be.
