Brad Radke-S-Twins Dec. 17 - 10:03 pm et

Brad Radke will announce his retirement at a press conference Tuesday.

The Twins tried to get the 34-year-old Radke to give it one more try, but he didn't feel he could continue pitching without undergoing shoulder surgery. "It'll be a sad day because he's not going to be pitching for us anymore," manager Ron Gardenhire said. "And it's also going to be a great day because he's done so much for our organization. He started with us, and he never left us. That's something our organization is very, very proud of."

Radke always seemed like a cool guy. He stuck with that org even though they stunk for most of his "formative" years; picthed through pain more than once, IIRC. I also will always remeber the video game commercial he did where they made fun of the fact that he gave up the most HRs in baseball during one season. Good sense of humor to do that one.

Best of luck, sir.

Have to respect him having the sense to get out when the time was right. Most players would have listened to bad advice and gotten their shoulder cut up just for the hope of stretching their career out another couple seasons. I think Radke made a good decision here. He wasn't going to be a Hall Of Fame pitcher no matter what, so why not take your money and stay home with your family?
