Dusty has decided to platoon Murton and Bynum. So tonight Bynum got the start with the righthander going. Then in the 9th inning Baker brings Murton up to pinch hit against one of the toughest righthanders in the game for the lefthanded hitter that is supposed to be much better against righthanders. Did I miss something? I did come in late and didn't see the whole game. Feel free to correct me if I've missed something. It just seems Dusty wants him to fail.

He didn't have much of a choice because Walker had already been used and there wasn't anyone else available from the leftside. Remember, Barrett's suspension (and Womack's injury tonight) means few bench options.

I guess my question was that if Bynum is better against righthanders (in Dusty's mind anyway) why PH Murton for him? Why not just let Bynum (lefty) bat?

Now we know it's because Bynum had swelling in his arm (see the "According to news" thread) -- but I can see how it made absolutely no sense before that was known.

Thanks for the info. I had just read that in the thread you mentioned and at least now it makes sense.
