From the Cubs:

The Chicago Cubs today announced that Buddy Bailey will take over as manager of the Single-A Daytona Cubs for the second half of the season. Bailey joined the Cubs organization this season as the franchise’s Catching and Base Running Coordinator.

Current Daytona Cubs skipper Don Buford will spend the second half of the season at the Cubs Spring Training Complex in Mesa, Ariz. His responsibilities will also include working with the Cubs’ short-season teams in Boise, Id., and Mesa. This was a position Buford was originally expected to fill prior to the season.

“We’re really lucky and fortunate to have a guy like Don Buford who’s done a lot of things,” said Cubs Director of Player Development Oneri Fleita. “He has a lot of knowledge and we’re going to have him work with our young kids at Mesa and Boise.”

Bailey will be joined by Antonio Grissom, who has been added to the Daytona coaching staff. Grissom, a graduate of South Georgia College, is also a scout in the Cubs organization and has also coached in Mesa over the past two years.

Why has Buford been the manager so far if it wasn't his intended job at the beginning of the year? He's done a great job, but with such inexperienced players I think it'd be in their best interest to have the same coaching staff throughout the season.

Also, what position will Grissom be doing on the staff?
