After having a terrible outing two starts ago, Todd Blackford has come back with consecutive strong showings. That makes it something like 5 out of 6 or 6 out of 7 starts in which has been quite good. Before that streak, his ERA was in the 7s IIRC, he has dropped to 4.00. As a 20-year-old, he is becoming a viable prospect, especially if he continues to throw groundball outs and can add velocity as he fills out.

Davey Gregg singles with 2 outs in the 7th, but is thrown out at 2B on a pitch-out to end the inning.

Third runner to be cut down on the basepaths for the Chiefs. Chirinos was CS and Kyle Reynolds tripled but was nailed at home trying for an inside-the-park-HR. Gregg & Yusuf Carter with SBs.

1-0 Chiefs to the 8th

Any mention of how Carter's defense has been in the OF? I know someone (maybe you) had mentioned that he looked terrible when I first came up from Arizona; has he adjusted any or is his play still pretty rough?

It was not me and I haven't heard Nathan mention it specifically in the recent broadcasts I've heard. You might want to ask Nathan in the sticky thread here. I know he played RF & CF the other night (shifted with player substitutions), and he was in RF tonight.

I haven't had a chance to get to Peoria yet this season because of a crazy work schedule. That should change soon and I'm planning on hitting several games starting next month -- I'll be sure to report back.

It was me that made that comment, and he seems much better now. I made those comments based on the first game in Peoria, so perhaps he was just getting used to O'Brien Field. I've been traveling for business, but from what I've heard from Nate on the radio, he seems to have gotten comfortable. That first game he played in center, and don't really recall where he's been playing over the last few games, but I think there's been at least some time spent in left.

I'm so excited for the Chiefs to have clinched a playoff spot. We'll be in Kane County over the weekend as well, and I'd love to see us make up ground and pass them for the title.

Nathan said last night that Jody Davis had postponed the "big celebration" for when they win the division. :)

Hope you all have a good time at Kane County (and tell those of who can't go about it when you return!).

I'll be able to provide updates from Kane County, since even the Best Western Naperville has free wireless these days

Ouch, Outshined!

P.S. Please don't take shots at Naperville, I used to live there.

sorry, didn't mean to take a shot at Naperville - it's a perfectly lovely place, actually. It was more a shot at Best Western...last year we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn just up the road from the stadium, but it was full back in March when I tried to book the room.
