(Jackson, TN) April 11th- The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, the “AA” Southern League Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, are excited to announce that the home opener at Pringles Park is right around the corner! On April 17th the Jaxx will take on the Mississippi Braves at 7:05 pm for the first home game of the 2006 season. A dazzling fireworks display will follow the game, sponsored by WBBJ ABC-7.

 

Race fans will receive an added bonus on Opening Day, when O’Reilly USCS Sprint Car Champion Terry Gray will toss out the ceremonial first pitch. Interested fans can catch Gray this weekend at Garnertown Speedway, when he will be attempting to increase his O’Reilly USCS points lead during the Hooker Hood Sprint Car Shootout. An outstanding field of Winged Outlaw Sprint Car drivers from seven states will be competing in this two-day event to honor Mid-South Open legend Clarence “Hooker” Hood from Memphis on April 14th and 15th. In addition, fans who attend the Hooker Hood Sprint Car Shootout will receive FREE ADMISSION to the Diamond Jaxx home opener on April 17th.

 

April 18th is “2 For Tuesday,” when Jaxx fans can receive two tickets and select concession items for the price of one. Those in attendance will also get two baseball games for the price of one, as the Diamond Jaxx will again square off against the Braves during a 5:05 pm doubleheader. April 18th is a Reading Program Night as well, and area students whose schools have signed them up for Ribbee’s Reading Program will receive two free General Admission tickets after reading ten books.

 

On “Wrigley Wednesday,” April 19th, fans who wear a Chicago Cubs cap, t-shirt, or other apparel receive a FREE General Admission ticket to the game, which begins at 7:05 pm.

 

The Diamond Jaxx will take on the Braves for the fifth and final game of the homestand on Thursday, April 20th at 7:05 pm. “Thirsty Thursday” allows Jaxx fans to buy one Pepsi product or draft beer and receive the second FREE! In addition, April 20th is the first Honor Roll Night at Pringles Park, when students from participating schools in Carroll, Gibson, Henderson, and McNairy Counties will receive two free General Admission tickets and be honored on the field as a reward for their good grades.
