Ronny Cedeno will enter the season as the Cubs' primary shortstop, but he may already be losing ground to Neifi Perez.

"Cedeno is going to get the first nod, but it's up to him to keep the job without us putting pressure on him," manager Dusty Baker said. "We're not in the giveaway business. We think he earned the situation that he's in, but …" The Cubs will be much better off if Cedeno seizes his opportunity, but it would be no surprise if Perez takes over the starting job at some point. . If Ronny is going to lose the job, it might as well be to Ryan Theriot. We ALREADY know Nefti isn't a starter, and we don't need to go into the season with a significant handicapped---outside of the manager---. To me...if Cedeno is going to lose the job, I prefer the Cubs to make a trade for a SS or go with Theriot.

For the love of the baseball god, please start the season on fire Ronny, or you'll never see the Diamond again with the Cub.
