Considering this year's market, the Cardinals are going to have to give him a sweet deal to keep him. There are other teams willing to overpay. From the Cardinals perspective, I'm sure they want to re-sign him so that they can use Marquis as a bargining chip to acquire an outfielder or perhaps, another arm.

Good. He's nowhere near the pitcher he used to be. Because of my Cardinal friends putting him on a pedestal over the past few years, I love getting the chance to tee off on him regularly. (0-4, 7.48 ERA against us last year)

Yes, but if they had gotten Burnett they wouldn't have. Now, they're in Plan B mode.
