"Teams have been told that top pitching prospect and left-hander Rich Hill is pretty much untouchable.

Offensive tragets: Devil Rays right fielder Aubrey Huff, shortstop Julio Lugo and center fielder Joey Gathright, all of whom might be included in a multiplayer deal. Gathright is not the hitting talent of Pierre but is a good center fielder, and Lugo could fill the leadoff spot. Huff is a power-hitting left-handed hitter—an important ingredient—who is considered average defensively."

Did I express my anger well enough?

So he won't give up Hill, but it doesn't seem like he'd get a good shot to earn a spot on the rotation... so whats the point? If we aren't using him this year we might as well trade him.

the hitting talent of Pierre

These words all strung together made me just choke on my Cheetos.

mmmm Cheetos.

I thought the same exact thing, but didn't want to waste space on the thread. Now that you did it though its ok and I'll join in.

mmmmmmm Cheetos

Whats that? Hill is untouchable?

:x

Maybe that's why I'm gaining weight -- eating Cheetos while sitting on my butt at midnight...

Anywho, is Hendry trying to make Hill sound more impressive to increase his trade value, or do you think he actually believes he's more than the next Shawn Estes?

Posted

Hendry is a total moran. Hill won't pitch for the Cubs because he's not good enough to pitch over Glendon Rusch (according to the Cubs). But Hill is "untouchable" nonetheless. Despite the team having three GAPING holes in the everyday lineup.

Is anyone still on the Jim Hendry bandwagon? Anyone at all??

I think hes more than the next Shawn Estes.

If everything went absolutely right he would be more like the next Barry Zito. He'll fall somewhere in between. Probably a good #3,4 pitcher.

Me, but only half my ass is on it right now and I'm about to make a jump if something good doesn't happen in the next week.

If he pitched in bizarro world, maybe. Only kidding, of course. Shawn Estes or Barry Zito, either way Hendry has an unhealthy obsession with keeping him.

At this point, I'm not on the Jim Hendry BandWGN still, but I'm not ready to jump on the hate Hendry BandWGN.

I'm just gonna keep hoping at this point. Mayube some praying too.

Wait, I've been bamboozled. According to your avatar, Zito is now a Cub. Can we still make Hill comparisons? :D

Agreed.

Although he sucked in the majors this year do you think his stock is higher than ever because of his success in AA/AAA?

If it is, then we should take advantage and sell high.

LOL.

Don't listen to the troll in my avatar he says whatever he wants. I bet by tomorrow he will be proclaiming Dunn or Abreu a Cub.

Heck yeah. If teams are continuously asking about Hill, let's see who wants the biggest fleecing.

I haven't been keeping up on any Sammy Sosa news, anything regarding what will become of him? Is he heading to Japan? Since 2006 is looking like a lost cause anyway, why can't the Cubs bring him back for a swan song and let him retire with some dignity. He can't be any worse than John Mabry, who as things stand today, is the Cubs starting RF.

Sammy's going to surprise himself because he has no idea where he's going to end up. I don't buy the idea that teams are knocking down his door. What a joke.
