    Cubs Video

Daniel Greenberg is reporting that the Toronto Blue Jays, currently holding the second Wild Card spot in the American League, are showing interest in Marcus Stroman. It would represent a return to Stroman's roots, as he came up through the Toronto farm system and has played the majority of his career with the Blue Jays.

I’m not sure how to add a source to a rumor but this is a source, though it’s from Daniel Greenberg. Probably something Levine said on the radio

I guess Orelvis Martinez + Barriera would be nice, but the Cubs would probably have to throw a reliever back. Unfortunately Leiter and Merryweather suck lately.

Somehow, the content field for rumors decided it didn't want to give anyone but administrators access to it.

    Should be fixed now, sorry.

I keep looking and Orelvis Martinez is definitely the guy if you're dealing with Toronto. 21 in AA, BB% up significantly to 14%, K% down to 20.5%. Tons of power. I'm curious as to why he always has really low babip, it looks like he almost hits too many flyballs at the cost of line drives.

It's such a weird fit. The Jays' rotation is actually pretty robust. Levine mentioned this in his article about Stro not expecting an extension, and said the two teams "have done their due diligence about the strength of each other's farm systems," which, hmm. Maybe the Cubs add a lesser prospect to Stro (cushioning the Jays against the risk that he gets hurt and opts in for 2024 as something like dead money), and that gives them access to a prospect the caliber of Ricky Tiedemann or Addison Barger? I dunno. Just thought that was an interesting note to season the stew of this one.
