  1. Nice! Just the new I wanted to hear!
  2. A little off-topic. Why is Salisbury on the Chicago air waves? This guy is a pompous ass. The past two days he's been complaining how people are ribbing him about choosing the Saints over the Bears and then he states how he watches more games than they do and so forth. I don't like the guy's attitude and it's a shame there is nothing to hear in the mornings anymore. I don't like North and I don't like Salisbury. I enjoyed hearing Carmen and Silvy in the mornings but this know it all fool comes here and ruins my mornings.
  3. I think he did something similar in the 49ers game this year. Could be wrong, though. I remember that. I don't remember if it was against the 49ers this year or last but I do remember doing that.
  4. If that's the case I would be happy but we'll see how it works out. When healthy Floyd id good, when healthy(not much).
  5. Why does it mean that? That would run contrary to everything Piniella and Hendry have been saying-they want Floyd to be the 4th OF, not take away most of Murton's AB's. I hope you're right but we've seen Murton split time before and who knows if Floyd accepted knowing he would be a 4th OFer or not. I don't know.
  6. it would be amazing if he were better than himself. haha, I meant to say Floyd an upgrade over Jones ;)
  7. For the money it's not a bad signing but to me, this means that Murton will not be getting the majority of ABs unless of course Jones is traded which is a possibility. Now is Floyd an upgrade over Jones? I don't know.
  8. It's certainly possible that he could be very good, but you're going to have to accept that he won't break many long runs, and he'll have his limitations. I saw Jones make at least three runs where there's just no way Benson could've broken them like Jones did. He'll have more positive yardage plays, but not as many where he bounces outside or uses a burst to bust a big run. It's hard to tell. I don't know how much faster TJ is over Benson. Benson had a long of 30 yards this year and TJ just got his long play of 33 against the Saints. Long story short, it's best for us to keep both of them.
  9. Overall (Playoffs): Henry Blanco (Leones): 16/52, .308/.368/.423/.791, 2 HBP, 3 BB, 8 K, 3 2B, 1 HR Ronny Cedeño (Tigres): 20/57, .351/.403/.754/1.157, 7 BB, 11 K, 4 HR, 3 3B, 5 2B, 1/1 SB Per Google. I modified it a bit to make more sense: The game was interrupted by several minutes because the dugouts emptied of both teams after a discussion between the pitcher Géremi González and the batter Ronny Cedeño. Both players were expelled from the game.
  10. I would be really irritated if we sign Finley.
  11. bowden fleeced both the rangers (for soriano...was he the gm then?) and the reds (for lopez and kearns). his team was operating with a significantly lower payroll than the cubs (and playing in a tougher division), and the nats won more games than the cubs. i'd probably rather have hendry than bowden, but it's not unthinkable that someone would rank him ahead of hendry. i don't know why hendry gets any kind of credit from anyone. since he's taken over the losses have increased each year (despite an increasing payroll) and the farm system has gone in the toilet. so he traded for ramirez and lee...what's that gotten him? While I'm going to try to stay out of the reasons for credit/blame for Hendry, the fact that the losses have increased each year under his tenure is just not correct. They increased for 2 years, and then dropped the next 2 years back to the level they were before Hendry. If they increase significantly next year, some of last year can be forgiven (he still didn't build a contending team, but it is possible that the injuries took the team from a .500 team to a terrible team). If the wins don't get the Cubs past the .500 mark this year, then Hendry just becomes someone who got the team to around .500-which is an improvement over the previous regime, but still not good enough to really make a difference. Hendry relying on Prior and Wood year after year doesn't help his cause. Now in 2007 he finally realizes he needs more SP? This problem should have been patched up long ago.
  12. Me too. I just can not imagine a manager saying this about a player and a player that may be playing for him this year. I'm thinking there's a good chance Neifi will be released. I don't see him playing for the Tigers next year. I just hope Hendry doesn't pick him up.
  13. I don't blame him. I remember how people were complaining about the contracts given out to ARod and Manny, and look at what Soriano and Zito are getting now.
  14. Epstein has been pretty good. Got them a WS ring, and he signed all the available FA's this year that I wanted the Cubs to sign. Hendry is where he deserves. Those bottom tier GMs are pretty bad. I don't know about all that now. Hendry may be bad, but is he worse that Jim Bowden or J.P. Ricciardi? I'd put him somewhere between 15-17 personally. Hendry is bad, very bad. Any monkey can sign players through FA if they have the available funds to do so, and Soriano didn't come cheap either. Whether you think its a fluke or not, I dont know how you judge Hendry without at least mentioning Lee, Barrett and, here's the big one, RAMIREZ. I never said Hendry never made a good move. I think those trades were great. But he failed to recognize glaring weaknesses in the past and resolve them. He always seems to overpay for mediocre players and up until recently was hesitant to pay top dollar for FAs although I think that was more MacPhail than him. Leaving Baker out there for another year and letting him finish up the season didn't do us any favors either. I also question his game plan during the off-season's to solidify the team for the upcoming season. IMO, He's done more bad than good and looks to be a bottom tier GM.
  15. He was playing so bad at tackle I believe they moved him to guard at one point. For some reason he hasn't panned out at either tackle position. It could be a mental issue with him, who knows.
  16. Certainly, but judging by Lovie, Urlacher and P-Nut's comments in the media, you can tell they relish proving everyone wrong. Agreed. You can tell the players like that angle. If that gives them the best chance to win, so be it.
  17. Also be careful blitzing Manning too much...he will make you pay. fixed What about Pittsburgh and San Diego last year? They blitzed him quite effectively. If you can conceal the blitzes well, (Which we don't do) and if you can get pressure on him (which doesn't always happen with our blitzes) then there is nothing wrong with blitzing him. In fact, we might have to end up blitzing him. If you cannot get pressure from the front 4, he'll pick your cover 2 apart. You can't sit in a zone against Manning. Pittsburgh and San Diego are both 3-4 defenses. 3-4 defenses have confused the offensive line in the past (see also the Dallas game from this year). The offensive line has never had much of a problem picking up blitzes from even the best 4-3 teams. It's a big thing in Indy before every game-the inevitable question, are they a 4-3 or a 3-4? I'm not saying the offensive line is perfect, but how an offense blocks a 4-3 and a 3-4 is a little different, and all the defenses the Colts have ever had trouble against are 3-4's. This is very true. The problems that Peyton has had in the past have all come from teams that run 3-4 defenses. I'm very afraid he'll pick our defense apart. Of course, I was afraid Drew Brees would, too. So we shall see, we shall see. We'll need another superhuman effort in this one. Don't the Jags run a 4-3 defense? Manning had a hard time with them.

  20. I don't think that's true at all, especially on this board, where fans tend to be more informed than the average fan. From what I've seen, the Bears have the best defense in the league, but a below-average quarterback and an offensive line that isn't always good enough to keep pressure off him - which is when he really struggles. I think the Colts will win because I think they're a bad matchup for the Bears - they're the best passing team in the league, and that's where the Bears can be beat. I hope for the Bears' sake that they don't buy into the "let's just run the ball all game like Jacksonville did" bull. This isn't 1994-95 Nebraska versus Baylor, these are two really good NFL teams playing in the Super Bowl. I'd like for the Super Bowl to be competitive, especially since I won't be able to watch until the second half. Actually, New Orleans was the best passing team in the league, and it didn't help them much. In passing yards, yes, but Indy is certainly the more efficient passing team. The game was played in weather not conducive to throwing the ball a lot, and the Saints were missing Joe Horn, who's either their best or second-best receiving threat. The Colts have all their receivers healthy and unless there's a front near south Florida, the weather shouldn't slow down the Colts' passing attack. I know that Joe Horn has been hurt a lot this season. Colston was their best threat then came Bush. Horn hasn't been the same since last year when he got injured. Their other receivers picked up the slack nicely.
  21. I definitely feel better about this upcoming season than I did about 2005 and 2006.
  22. I personally think it's never a good idea to give big money to older FA's especially ones that have shown decline.
  23. I'm not a huge fan of Gasol. He's good I don't doubt that but he's not that good that he would be worth Deng and Gordon. I also think it's safe to say signing Wallace has been a huge disappointment IMO. That guy hasn't been that good and widely inconsistent.
  24. Hey, just start drinking earlier. It makes time fly. :D That's my plan :)
