  1. Soriano's lack of hustle cost us that inning.
  2. Great to still see Theriot out at SS. Man, we really need to do something about the surplus of OFers we have.
  3. Maybe, though no significant improvement (Saber heads, can you corroborate?) can be attested since he hasn't produced at all in the middle of the lineup yet. I like Pie's upside and speed at the bottom of the order. Let alone the circus playing Soriano, Jones and Floyd together can be. Yeah, defensively there is no doubt I would feel more comfortable with Pie in CF. What I would really like to see is Soriano in RF and Murton/Floyd in LF but it looks like Lou is pretty set on having Sori in LF.
  4. For all the talk of trading Jones he probably would be more offensively productive playing CF against RHP than Pie.
  5. I disagree. Dusty would have done it once but would have benched Theriot the next day because Izturis "Needs to hit his way out of his slump" Theriot started 2 games at SS last season. Probably after Neifi was traded and Izturis was on the DL. 8/28 and 8/29 Neifi was traded on 8.20 and sure enough Izturis went on the DL on 8.22. Damn, I'm good.

  7. http://www.harrythecat.com/graphics/b/smile8.gif Crossing my fingers. Izturis being here was just wrong from the start.
  8. Total pipe dream. We're not ending up with ARod.
  9. Good. Theriot, please don't struggle and do well at SS. I would HATE to see Izturis back playing SS again for us.
  10. What do you mean by this? Teams make 2 for 1, 3 for 1 and 3 for 2 type trades every year. Pretty much every team has roster flexibility, where they can option somebody out, release guys or make call-ups if they make a deal that is not 1 for 1. Yeah but let's face it, no team is going to give us anything for Jones, Izturis, Eyre and Miller as a package deal. I think people need to start being realistic about trades.
  11. We don't even know who the GM will be next year. Too soon to know anything right now. Who knows what direction the new owners will want to go.
  12. We all know Soriano is not moving out of the leadoff spot so this is what I think would be fine: Soriano RF Theriot SS Lee 1B ARam 3B Murton LF Barrett C DeRosa 2B Pie CF PITCHER
  13. His concern is who produces and who doesn't. I honestly thought he'd give Izzy a little more time, but I'm not complaining about the move. Am I understanding right that he said in the postgame that Theriot's the new SS fulltime (or at least mostly)? Yes, he said Theriot will start at SS. Good news. Unlike many on here, I don't despise Izzy, but the fact is he's not doing anything productive right now and we can't afford it. Hopefully he'll contribute later, but right now I like Theriot at short. Good move, Lou. :D I despise him and I'm glad he will be benched. I actually hope he gets traded or released. Lou did the right thing and move Theriot to SS. I wouldn't cut Izzy. He has value because of his (usually) excellent defense and thus would likely bring a decent return in a deadline trade. I doubt he'd bring a great deal, but likely enough to justify not cutting him. Hey, no problem to me as long as he doesn't start I'm happy.
  14. I feel the same way as you do. Get rid of the overpriced bum.

  16. About time Lou! I'm one happy person now! See, this is the move Lou does that Dusty would never do. No way would Dusty pull Izturshi... for The Riot.
  17. Let's hope this is the end of the Izturis era here in Chicago. Theriot for SS.
  18. It means the bullpen will blow it later.
  19. were expecting news on his season being over any day now.
  20. One way or another I just don't care anymore. Same with Wood.
  21. In his post game interview yesterday he did say that this is the lineup he would go with with minor tweaks. I wouldn't call today's lineup a minor tweak.
  22. You've been saying that for weeks. I'm sorry to call you out because I know you're not advocating it, but I'm just sick of reading people's excuses. There is no rational explination for keeping Murton on the bench at this point. None. It's all just lame excuses. First it was Murton is stuggling. Then it was riding the hot hand. Then it was Murton is the emergency catcher. Then it was playing the matchup. Now it's Murton can't play against RHP, but don't worry........Floyd isn't going to play anymore. This is just an anomoly. I would agree-although I would argue the situation changed. I didn't expect that Pie would come up this quick, plant himself in center, Sori move to left, Jones not traded, and now Jones/Floyd/Murton playing one position basically. Murton was getting some starts against RHP with just Floyd (and I still think would have had more starts over the course of the season), but now with Jones he's not going to be able to prove himself there. Until Jones is traded, I doubt we really ever see Murton against RHP-because on the days that Jones moves positions, Floyd will get his occasional start. So at this point-I'd really like to see Jones traded. Not because he is terrible or doesn't have value or anything like that, but because there are 3 OF's who are trying to play one position, and at least one of them needs more playing time then they are getting. Something needs to be done to fix that jam in RF. Floyd never should have been signed. The best thing for us to do is move Soriano to right, leave Murton at LF and Jones in CF. If you want Pie up here then trade Jones. Leave Floyd as bench player.
  23. Very stupid trade actually. I wonder if Hendry even evaluated Izturis before the trade happened to be honest. Honestly, their GM probably said look he's a former god glove allstart and we're willing to give him to you. Hendry heard that and made the trade. I didn't expect us to get much for Maddux to be honest but I also didn't expect to get a player worse than Neifi with a terrible contract either. Hendry is terrible as always.
