When Dusty brought Borowski in to face Jeter with the bases loaded, I said to the Cardinal fan in the house, "I don't know if I can bear to sit here and watch JoBo give up the 'slam to Jeter." He said, "Jeter's never hit a grand slam in his life." I said, "First time for everything." I think he thought I was either just being gloomy or trying to put a reverse jinx on Jeter or something. But a few pitches later, Jeter launches it, and I just sat there. I didn't start yelling at the TV (something I do a lot when I watch Cubs games) or armchair managing, I just sat there. He said, "I don't believe he actually did it." I said, "I told you it was going to happen." How can we all sit here and know things from observation, like Remlinger isn't a lefty-lefty pitcher and Borowski needs to start an inning or come in with the bases empty so that he can afford to make a mistake that won't cost us the game, and Dusty can't? I know that sometimes there are things that go on behind the scenes that we aren't privy to, but I can't imagine what's going on that outweighs these two nearly irrefutable facts.
