  1. If Pie's averaging 4 runs per at bat I really think we might have to consider going ahead and bringing him up to the bigs.
  2. I'm starting to think LaRussa and Duncan could take a random bum sleeping on the street and at bare minimum, turn them into a decent middle reliever. God do I hate the Cardinals (BTW: a coworker in the St. Louis branch of my company says the Cardinals are spending a couple of million dollars to further upgrade Busch stadium. More escalators, even larger scoreboard, more bathrooms, larger pressbox and more decorations. Plus they'll have signs plastered all over saying "World Series Champs") *sigh* I can confirm this...those damn signs are going up as we speak...
  3. I've seen AP pics of him with the big league team (before the Texas Rangers game, I think) so he's definitely in Arizona. Maybe he was with the big leaguers when you were at the minor league camp? How old is Harkey these days? He turned 40 back in October. I figured he had to be...I remember his "Future Star" topps card from WAAY back when I was a kid...since I'm in my early 30s I figured he had to be getting up there.
  4. Imagine the problems that could cause... DeRosa signed here, for 3 years, to be a starter and Theriot has already been promised the utility role. Ok...ok...ok...so move DeRosa over to short, Castilla is your 2b...Theriot stays as utility guy and Isturiz is your back up middle infielder/defensive replacement.

  6. Reyes is frikin doing it again today...ugh...
  7. For $21 million, Marquis is not going to be a long reliever. Even if he does struggle (he's pitched well down here), they're going to stick with him a long time. Yeah...I figured as much...but my hypo assumes at least a full bad month out of Marquis...obviously having too many available solid pitchers is a good thing...lets just hope we have the problem all year...
  8. Any chance they send Guzman down...and if he pitches well for a couple weeks and Marquis happens to struggle they bring Guzman back up, move Miller to long relief and tell Miller that if he can show he can out pitch Marquis the starting spot is is...if not he's the long reliever? (this assumes Cotts is, and remains worthless)
  9. They are having a great spring....could somebody please tell me that a staff of: Carpenter Wells Wainwright Reyes, and Looper can't really be good...can it?
  10. Minnesota needs pitching....trade Miller, and Ohmen for Luis Castilla....DeRosa becomes your utility guy.
  11. Throw in Wade Miller and it would make sense to me. That deal does start to make some sense...especially if you'd consider Renteria's additional offense making up for replacing Jones with Pie....and they need an aditional arm for their staff.....hmm
  12. So what do we do if Miller is the #5 guy and 2 weeks into April both Guzman and Prior are throwing bb's in Iowa?
  13. From the Trib article: Miller, still fighting off the effects of shoulder surgery after the 2005 season, hit 90 m.p.h. on the radar gun against a strong Diamondbacks lineup. If he's hitting 90+ on a consistent basis again Miller could end up being a very good pitcher for us...or at least be a very valuable trade piece...I didn't know he was throwing that hard again...thought I'd just heard mid 80s with location and movement.
  14. What about Luis Castillo in Minnesota? They are in need of another starter with Lirano being out....Miller fits in there and Castillo would be a very solid guy to add to our team....he'd take away at bats from Theriot and is a bit high priced for a backup (actually...it might move DeRosa to the utility role and he'd be the every day 2nd basemen)...but Castillo has a solid obp (.401 in day games) and could easily slip into the two hole...that moves Murton back in the order...but gives us an outstanding line up.
  15. 7.0 IP, 6 ER, 10 R, 17 H, 3 K/0 BB. That's a 2.42 WHIP. That's disgusting! What? A Whip of approx 2.5 isn't good? Dude, this is 'mericuh. Bigger, More, larger is always better!!! YEEEE-HAAAW!!! And see...I just thought we were on the Modified Stapleford scoring system.

  17. What kind of stat line is this? Rats...foiled again.
  18. I've heard that rag has a pretty good beat writer for the Cubs...I'll have to check it out. :D
  19. This has the potential to be the most boring play by play of all time....(sadly...I'll still be following it).
  20. Am I the only one who really wants to keep Jones for this year? I like the "idea" of Pie...but we know Jones is going to bring a solid bat with some solid power numbers which really rounds out the line up...Pie could be good...but he could also take some time adjusting to the bigs...if he does we're stuck with a much weaker lineup.
  21. Yes...thanks so much...it is highly appreciated.
  22. Ok...for those of us only following along on teh NSBB Play by play...could someone please elaborate on the "Lee is out" "I hope Lee is OK" line of posts...its freaking me out and I need to be soothed....
  23. This is what I'm going to love this year...even on outs our guys are seeing pitches...Fonzi saw 10 pitches there in that at bat...it was a great at bat no matter what the outcome...I remember entire series where JP didn't see 10 pitches.
