1. This is one situation where the old adage "stats don't show you everything" is actually true. Lee has only 2 walks but clearly has shown patience at the plate and a willingness to work the count and wait for his pitch. It just happens he's getting "his pitch" more often than not (hence his .424 batting average). Murton on the other hand is swinging at the first pitch more often than not. He's beating the ball into the ground (.267 SLG? You kidding?). He's not waiting for his pitch at all like we know he's capable of doing. Chalk that up to feeling pressure from Floyd's PT if you want, but he's not the Murton of 05 or 06 right now. To reiterate... Murton's current line: .267/.313/.267/.580 Murton's line if he hits a double in his next AB: .313/.353/.400/.753 Just imagine if he'd hit a Home Run...He's an All Star at that point :D
2. Yeah...I always ask where they are at...most of the time with Charter it is San Paulo Brazil...and strangely everyone in San Paulo has an "english" name....sort of like strippers...but different.
3. It works in the favor of the Cobs too, who are playing pretty pathetic baseball at the present time. My thoughts exactly. Two days off to "warm up" for cincy woudl be fine by me...seriously...who made the schedule this year...only 2 games in a 3 week period on the road in April...and that is a stupid 2 game trip to atlanta....we should be playing, FLA/ATL/HOU/SD/MIL/LA/ARZ road trips this month....
4. No kidding...last year was the first time I bought the package and after DLee broke his arm I was wondering if I couldn't just get my money back...
5. Here is today's web chat...from about 2 minutes ago...it "seems" like good news, but who knows if its true...(Read from bottom up) Craig: Thanks. Gerald W: It is just what I have read that I sent to you and they are moving along as quickly as they can. I am very sorry for the mixed messages you have been getting and I do apologize. If further information is required you can phone into 1-888-438-2427. Craig: My concern is that I'll call back tomorrow and I'll get someone else who will say "oh...we're still negotiating"... Craig: Hey, no offense man, but I've got 20 different answers from you guys over the last week...from being told "yes" we've got it, to "no" we won't have it, to "what's MLB-EI"....its very frustrating and since we're over a week into the season I'd like to see a resolution. If you're saying it will happen today I can live with that Gerald W: they are going ahead to complete plans.Do you want to sign up for sometime that is quite finished whats a couple of more hours at a time like this. Craig: So its not confirmed and we're basically "still negotiating" like I've been told for a week now?, Now I'm confused... Gerald W: Anytime once it is confirmed. Craig: If true, that is Great news...when can I order? Gerald W: MLB Extra Innings Update – Great news! Charter’s Corporate Programming Team is going to go ahead and complete a deal for the MLB Extra Innings PPV package. Talking points and updates will be completed and posted to KMS over the next few days. Please stay tuned for additional information as it becomes available. (H. Christopherson). Craig: I'm looking for an update on the status of availablity of the MLB-Extra Innings package. Gerald W: My name is Gerald, thank you for contacting Charter. How may I help you today?
6. It'll be cold...wind blowing in...he should be fine...he'll save the truly bad games for August...when we're hopefully in contention and it can really hurt us. It's funny, most of my Yankee fan friends are saying the samething about A-Rod. They all still hate him. I have no idea why. My, one, Yankee fan friend hates ARod too. She thinks that liking/accepting him takes away from Jeter's adoration--which makes no sense to me but it seems to be a running theme with many in that fandom. Isn't that kind of like a Cubs fan saying they don't want them to win the WS because then they won't be "loveable loosers" anymore? That's just plain dumb logic.

8. KUJay....any luck with Charter today?
9. I'm not sure if describing the position of the majority of the people posting in the thread as "ludricous and assinine" is really "adding some sanity" Vance. As for hating it...yeah, MLB is the biggest culprit, no question...but your position is like saying you can't hate the yankees when they buy up every possible free agent...Actually, yes I could hate them...and its neither ludricous or assinine. And while it may somehow benefit their current subscribers...it hurts all those who aren't...so I can dislike them for that too if I so choose......now at the end of the day, the right thing happened and its available to both customer bases....that's all I care about....I could care less whether anyone has DirecTV, Cable, or an freakin coathanger antenna.
10. REMOTE CONTROL. Greatest. invention. ever. Color TV is useless to me if I have to get up to change the channel. No remote = way less television, perhaps even none. Amen. While I'm sure HDTV is great, I don't think I remember thousands of people bitching for the last 20 years that their TVs just weren't worth watching because of the "poor quality"...and I know I do remember many people on this board saying how much they liked the EI package and how it was worth 2X what they were charging for it...this was last year...before any of this DirecTV mess.
11. Had DirecTV not gotten involved, we'd still be stuck with MLBEI as it was in the 1990s. Now, DirecTV subscribers can enjoy numerous improvements that have put the service at the cutting edge of in-home sports viewing. Once "MLBEI 2.0" was assured, I didn't give a damn one way or another whether cable got the rights back. Now that they have, it's more money for MLB, which is always a good thing. DirecTV boasts excellent service, and, unlike cable, has shown a penchant for innovation that has pushed the sports packages far beyond the dreams of cable's most staunch supporters. There are some bum installers out there, but overall, people are pretty damn pleased. You really ought to sign up ... the people praising the new offerings here can't all be DirecTV shills. I tried signing up 6 months ago...and after fighting with their service people for 3 weeks...and 3 separate appointments where they didn't show up at all...and one where they did, but then installed it on a poll in the middle of my back yard, instead of on the side of my house like they promised (with poor reception at that)...I told them where they could put their dish.
12. What is your problem? what good does it do you to attack other companies just because you are a DirecTV fanboy. You really need to get over your zealous unhealthy enthusiasm for what basicly is a bottom feeding money grabing craphole of a company. qft I'd like to point out the fact that I'm a fan of a company that actually processes customer orders for MLBEI. Now, back to your regularly scheduled fight with cable customer service. And what I'd like to point out is that you've advocated since day 1 that ONLY DirecTV have it and had no problem with, and actually were happy about the first deal proposed which cut out a LARGE percentage of fans, including many people on this board...BTW, I don't think you'll ever see a post on here praising Charter...their customer service is bad, but DirecTV customer service sucks too.....I've always just wanted the product out there for everyone....and I'm happy its getting closer to that, even if I get personally screwed by having a bad cable company...I'm glad the product it out there for others...
13. Its amazing to me...I've taken to asking where they are speaking from...generally I get San Paulo Brazil...obviously the mecca of knowledge re US cable packages.
14. I tried to get ahold of charter via their web chat...still nothing but bs....although the listing of the MLB-EI on the channel guide is encouraging...yesterday it was just hockey....if anyone in Charter country gets a straight answer it'd be great to hear about it.

16. Charter's latest response....Its almost comical. I'd guess I could call and get 50 different answers from 50 different CSRs. Maryann: Charter does not currently have a deal with MLB. However, based on the recent iNDEMAND agreement, direct discussions between Charter and MLB will begin immediately. Charter and all other cable operators not owned by iNDEMAND must negotiate directly with MLB to carry MLB Extra Innings and later, The Baseball Channel. Updates on Charter’s ability to offer MLB Extra Innings will be provided as soon as they are available.
17. legally speaking...why didn't MLB have to approve the sale to Zell? And if its because the "tribune" still owns it, I'd think there might be some "interesting" corporate structure that could be organized in which the Trib spins off the Cubs in to a wholly owned Sub (likely is already), creates a holding company who's only asset is the Cubs, and then sells the holding company to the third party (i.e. Cuban).
18. So I called Charter again this morning to get my fair share of abuse....and I had the pleasure of talking to some dude in San Palo Brazil...who was obviously well informed. ...he informed me that they were "still negotiating"...
19. Has he thrown since his last outting with the big team? How'd he do? when's he scheduled to throw again?
20. That's happy news man. But slightly tempered by my prior experiences with Charter people not having a clue and giving downright false information. Will be checking the channel guide again later tonight. For now, all the channels are still set up for Center Ice. Also, as a side note, I complained bitterly to Charter last year that they didn't have enough channels set aside, and during the time that CI and EI overlap, they cut games from both. They seem to have solved that problem by adding four more channels for the sports packages. Yeah...I'm becoming skeptical...She said the season for their EI would start the 11th...right now all it is showing is Center Ice...I may call again tomorrow to try and confirm.
