  1. If we ever open up a 2-3 game lead I wouldn't mind seeing DeRosa get a start there and giving Aram a breather...but as long as he's hitting them out....he can rest in November.
  2. We NEED to take 3-4...not so much b/c of STL...but because the brewers are playing Cincy at home...cincy just swept STL...we can't expect them to win more than 1 of 3 in Millwaukee.....if we can still be ahead of the Brewers come next Monday when they start their last road trip and string of games against Houston, ATL, STL and SD, I think we've got a good chance,
  3. Just got west on Washington Avenue...turn left on 21st street...21st and Locust http://www.schlafly.com/brewpubs.shtml I know the national marketing guy for Schlafly...great guy, and damn good beer.
  4. They are not dead till mathmatically eliminated....I counted them out a month ago...I'm not doing it again until the cofin is closed...but if we get a series win this weekend...well...they'll be close.
  5. I agree. They had to cut costs and it shows on the inside. The new Busch cost like $350 million and most of that came from the Cardinal ownership. New stadiums like Minnesota, DC, and both NY teams are costing $600 million or more because they're getting tons of public money. The main difference at the new Busch is there's a ton of small to medium sized bathrooms spread out all over the place. It's amazing that one mens bathroom will have a line while another right across from it will have nobody waiting. And you can't see the field at all from the concourses....they are just dark concrete tunnels...with nothing really in them...they could have done a much better job outfitting those areas....
  6. Oh how I would love that...I'd be putting my Nevada liscense to use a LOT more often....
  7. That's another Wrigley South for you! That Tue-Thur the second to last series of the year...Cubs fans will own that place.
  8. Even though you guys look to draw Peavy, Maddux and Young that series? No thanks. The Pirates are pesky, but I'd rather play them than the Padres regardless of venue. You can talk about deceptive matchups, but the fact is that neither the Brewers or Cubs are that strong. All Cubs fans should be cheering for the Phillies, Rockies, Dodgers and Braves so that the wild card stays close as long as possible. A bad sceanario for the Cubs would be if the Padres clinched prior to their season-ending series with the Brewers and rested their starters. I want them all to lose (padres included) so it stays close enough that the WC is around if we need it...And so the Padres have something to play for that last series.
  9. Those will be very nice seats for taking your son...nothing too exciting about the new ballpark...its nice to look at from the outside but nothing special or particularly interesting inside...
  10. Cards get "swept" for the 3rd straight series....whee!
  11. Does that become Wrigley South....there is absolutely nobody there for the STL series right now. If the series matters do you think there will be more Chicago Fans than Reds fans?
  12. Nope...it was... OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. ITs classic Ron....I'd love a link if anyone has one.
  14. XM just quoted Lou as saying Ronny C is starting tonight and Theriot needed a blow (I assume he means rest...otherwise I'm not sure I can type that(or that it really couldn't be said about everyone :D ))
  15. I'm in at least Friday night...not sure if I'll cave and buy tickets for Sat/Sun or not....they may get cheaper if the cards continue to tank...but know, they'll be almost as happy keeping us out as they would getting in themselves so it will still be a very good series.
  16. 2. Who would you bring in that situation? Dempster is the best remaining pitcher with Marmol and Howry gone. Just because it's deep and rested doesn't mean the remaining pitchers are good. Oh, and it's practically a save situation - he gives up 1 run, team loses. 2A. He threw 5 pitches in his first inning of work. 5! Eyre, Wood, Marshall, Ohman, Wuertz, Maybe even Hart... I especially didn't like it b/c it was on the road...even if he got out of the inning and we scored, we were going to need someone to come out and "close" the next inning....at home, maybe....but I didn't like it on the Road at all, and there were still 5-6 pitchers who could do the job...I really don't like using closers in non-save situations......
  17. Izturis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I knew You'd save the Cubs by getting traded!!!
  18. Hart with a triple....tied at 4....still only 1 out....damn pirates.
  19. 4-3, 1 out, runner at 3rd
  20. This aint good....2nd 3rd, nobody out....still 4-2...Fielder coming up.
  21. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. I'll add: 1. Not pinch hitting for Marquis in he bottom of the 5th...we've got a deep pen now and he'd just given up 2 runs...get him out and give him (and more importantly the team) a better chance to win the game...(especially when you pull him before he gets an out in the 6th). 2. Dempster in a non-closing situation? Seriously? When we've got a deep, fairly well rested pen? 2A. Leaving Dempster out longer than an inning. 3. Pie "trying" to bunt 4. Everyone else trying to bunt. Don't get me wrong, I like Lou, but last night was a bad game on his part....15 men left on base.....ugh.
  23. If I lose and don't owe you anything than yea I'll take that bet. What kind of a bet is that? I'm going more on the you pay for my year if I win, I pay for your year if I lose theorem
  24. Is there a reason for the new Ramirez #5 hitter or is he just sticking with what worked yesterday?
  25. I saw that....I'll bet a year of premium that he doesn't make it past 2010...Any takers?
