  1. Why hasn't he started the last couple games?
  2. So I was thinking...is Carlos Marmol the new Rich Hill?
  3. I live here and couldn't get by without it. Welcome to the neighborhood...there are quite a few of us down here...
  4. The Brewers are ahead of us in Waiver order assuming they claimed him. I have no idea if they did or if he made it all the way through. He's not terrible, and he is not Heilman. I read it to mean he'd passed through waivers...if they claimed him before us, nothing we could have done about it obviously...but if he passed through and then got traded I wonder why we didn't make an effort.
  5. One might ask why we didn't do it if all it took was a PTBNL...He's got decent #s this year and hasn't been used too terribly much...he might have been helpful down the stretch.
  6. i thought he had to go through the AL first and then the NL That could be...I'm just not sure how that part works between leagues.
  7. Apparently Zaun should have been...
  8. Ok...so Tampa Bay just claimed Gregg Zaunn off Waivers from the O's...would he have had to get all the way through the AL and then down to us, or did we essentially have to pass on him for him to fall to the Rays? If we had the chance, why Wouldn't we have claimed him to replace Hill?
  9. Haha 6'4" 150lbs God it makes me feel old that a guy born in 1991 is now playing professional baseball.
  10. Assuming Lou won't part with Heilman, we run into a bad situation in which Stevens probably goes back to Iowa. That's what I'd think, anyway. Either way, I'd imagine Gorz would stay up, right? I would assume Gorz would go down. It will only be 11-16 days until September 1st and Gorz would be unavailable for the first 3-4 of those. It will probably depend on how the bullpen has been used the previous few days though and how much the Cubs need fresh arms. Either way I don't think it's a bad situation because the timeframe will be so short before the Cubs will get everybody back from Iowa. When Lilly comes back I'd like to see them go with a 6-man rotation if only to get Harden some extra rest going into the stretch. +1 I was thinking the same thing...with this long stretch with very few off days, if he proves to be a solid arm in the rotation, it can't hurt at all to give everyone an extra day of rest down the stretch.
  11. I was looking at the spreadsheet....it has 5 million on his column for the 2011 season and the note says 11 "club option"....I read the "11" to mean 2011, not an $11mm option. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p4ew-fwu2XT1rq82EWtyQZg
  12. Am I reading this correctly? Does STL Really have Pujols under contract for $5mm in 2011? http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/2004/12/st-louis-cardinals_111971260115041890.html
  13. Its MLB Trade rumors...so take it for what its worth. But they claim to be tracking players who have cleared waivers...no one on the list yet but they promise to update as needed http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/08/list-of-players-to-clear-waivers.html
  14. Any chance at all he'd make it through waivers? He's really cheap and really good...
  15. Any clue on what kind of arms might be available for pick up off the wire? Chad Qualls? Russ Springer? Francisco Cordero (nice numbers but HUGE contract)? Stormy Weathers? (gulp) Kyle Farnsworth? Scott Downs?
  16. I know small sample size...but we're actually quite a ways over .500 on the road with Ramirez in the line up.
  17. For David Wright, Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran and Johan Santana...(and the Mets pick up a LOT of the contracts).
  18. What's the link to that message board again?
  19. I have to give Hampton credit...at least he's been efficient in his suckitude....he's only got 4-5 more pitches thrown than Wells and has given up 7 more runs.
  20. Sure would be nice to put some distance between us early in this one.
  21. While I find it a bit silly...I think this is kinda cool seeing Soriano getting all giddy like a little kid when meeting/getting photo taken with an athelete that he likes/admires. Makes him goofily more real.
  22. The loss of residents is merely a function of boundary drawing and how St. Louis is configured...unlike most major metropolitan areas, St. Louis City is separate and apart from St. Louis county...areas like Clayton, U-City, Ladue, Creve Coeur, Brentwood, Maplewood, Richmond Heights, and the like are not considered the "city" for census purposes, but for all practical purposes, are part of St. Louis. I've been here for 10 years...lived in the City during school (CWE), U-City for 5-6 years, and now in Creve Coeur....St. Louis is a nice place...its not a major metropolitan, nightlife center, and there are not a ton of urban dwellers who live their entire lives in apartments and/or condos, but its a great place to work/live/raise a family and has a ton of great stuff to do and areas to go for great food and entertainment... What sucks is basically all the Cardinal fans.
  23. Oh where oh where can he be? Adding those numbers to this lineup right now and sticking him at 2nd base full time would be incredible...is there a reason for the drop off or was last year the outlier?
