  1. This is more or less exactly what I was trying to say....And yeah, they're rich they can afford to buy refundable tickets, I could care less about that but just the idea that they MIGHT be worried about getting out of town as soon as humanly possible in the event we lost didn't sit too well. I wouldn't have cared less if it had happened after the game...hell, there may only be one flight a day from Chicago to the Dominican or something like that, and I don't blame them for wanting to get on it...but the idea of them making arrangements for Sunday before they even played the game on Saturday rubbed me wrong. Why? Do you seriously think they planned on losing, or hoped to lose? Or did they maybe-GASP- just want to make sure that if they did lose, they could see their families ASAP instead of having to wait by themselves an extra day thinking about getting swept? Never once did I say they hoped to lose. It does bother me they were thinking about it and planning for that contingency though. Like I said in an earlier post.... I wouldn't have minded at all if they looked into it and bought the tickets right after the game...but worrying about losing and making sure they're on a plane out of town 10 hours after the game was over, before it even started, does rub me the wrong way. Ok, so you don't think they hoped to lose, yet it bothered you that they had someone arrange this ahead of time...because why? Because it's incongruous with your idea of what a professional athlete should be? Should they be souless, gritty hustle-bots? Or should they make sure they can see their families as soon as possible should they be eliminated and thus have no reason to hang out in Chicago to read articles expressing the idea that they suck and don't care? Because I'd rather them be confident/focused on winning than on buying plane tickets home....If the fact that they were making plans to get the hell out of town as soon as they lost (before they even lost) just doesn't bother you, thats fine, say that...It bothered me. and your "souless, gritty hustle-bots" comments is ridiculous...if you'd have read any of my last 3 posts you'd see I don't care that they left when they did...but yes, it does rub me the wrong way that they made arrangements to leave before the game was even played....

  4. Well...since we're forgoing the don't attack the poster attack the post rules... soap drop you. I was there, they said it to me, I thought some in this forum would find it interesting. I attacked the ridiculous nature of the post. The Cubs lost on Saturday, a few guys bought tickets that day and flew out Sunday. Big freaking deal. People who can afford it by last minute tickets all the time, including open-ended refundable tickets. This is an absurd rant. What do you want him to do, sit around and hold hands with crying fans? I thought it was pretty bad that he bought the ticket before they'd even lost the game. Other than that I'd have agreed with you, well, except for the way you go about saying it...but I should know by now that's just the way you do things.

  6. She said it comes up on the registar when stuff is purchased. I questioned it too, but I can only tell you what I heard her tell me...and it was from two sources (TSA security agent said they went through at 4:30 or so) and a seaprate independent AA gate agent told me about the time the ticket was purchased. I was also standing there thinking..."you probably shouldn't be telling me this"...but I was wearing my nlDs hat and shirt and I think they both thought it was funny to tease me...the gate agent was talking about how she wished they would have been booed more during the game...I told her that was crazy and hated that anyone did that, and that's when she told me about the ticket being bought the day before and therefore she thought they "knew" they were going to lose Saturday.
  7. I was wearing my NLCS champion hat and the security agent said Ramirez was through there at 4:30 a.m. this morning leaving town...two other Cubs were with him. I got to my gate and the gate agent said the same thing, happened to be the same gate they took...said they left at 6:00 a.m. on tickets bought YESTERDAY at 7:30 a.m. That really pissed me off.
  8. night guys...I've got a presentation tomorrow...no need to stay up and ruin that to watch this...
  9. Soriano's done this whole playoff thing with the Yanks before right? I mean he's just swinging at everything...what happened to the guy who was on fire a week ago?
  10. Someone call the Brewers announcers and have them say we're within GS range.
  11. I don't have the overall stats, but I know one team who in 1984 came back to win a five game series after being down 0-2. I also remember a team that was left for dead in '03 that needed to win three games in a row and they did it. Maybe the getting ahead in series thing has not worked out so well for the Cubs so they are going to try doing it the other way. What's the point in not pulling for them until they are eliminated? Everyone thought the two games in Chicago were favorable match ups. They turn it around at home and win those two and then it is 1 game back in AZ that can go either way. If they wind up losing in Chicago, at least you can say you supported your team to the end. Seems a lot better than bailing when they were down two games. Completely agree, but this series has been disheartening. And this is kind of how Boston ended their streak....
  12. Good a lead off walk...that's what we need
  13. Nice single. GIDP and a K and we're back to normal
  14. Well...it was fun guys...I don't even want to go to CHicago this weekend but I guess I will....maybe I can get some cheap stuff....
  15. Oh we got time....of course since we can't hit or anything it won't matter...but we got time.
  16. Why do our pitchers seem contractually obligated to give up runs after our team scores...yet the other team never does?
  17. God damnit....I did not expect Lilly to crap the bed
  18. I would like a run or 8 so my stomach can settle down a bit.
  19. I want them!! C'mon Cubs win this series!!! Agreed. Law of averages. They have to cool off sometime. What a better time to than in the NLCS against us if we make it. And I figure if they sweep and our series goes 4-5 games they may have off 3-4-5 days before the next series starts...could break the streak...
  20. Ok...so The Cubs/D-backs series is now just a contest to see who gets to play the rockies...they are so freakin hot right now....
  21. Games 1 and 2 sold out
  22. Didn't Z pitch the bottom of the 6th though? Yep...and if you pulled him then it'd have been after 5 and only about 65-70 pitches...that would have been way too soon...
  23. If he had anything it wasn't near as obvious as Kenny Rogers last year...it was a dirty had but I didn't think it was much more than that...he's just damn good.
