If that's the case, it doesn't bother me. I've listened to Destrade on XM and I doubt he would notice the differences between Jacque and Fukudome. Agreed...they are both baseball players...that puts them in about the same position as far as Orestes is concerned...the fact that they both play Outfield...well...they might as well be twins.

    This has to have something to do with Fukudome doesn't it? Not that it justifies it....but if he plays SS, you stick Fukudome in CF..and it allows us to trade Cedeno, Pie and others for a power bat in RF...the "MAYBE" its not a horrible plan..

    Yeah, a large part of me wants them to keep Rolen, Edmonds, et al and continue to suck...if they are able to dump them for salary relief and even some low A prospects their team has a much better shot at improving faster...not next year...but faster...if they keep those guys and keep paying them they may suck for a couple years.

    OK, maybe not to start the season...but unless Prior is resigned and he's back to form, that's a down right awful playoff rotation if we were ever to make it that far.

    He doesn't hit for a ton of power, but he put up monster numbers outside of Tropicana field last year...he's entering the prime of his career...those are some reasons....not saying I agree with all of them, but if you could have an OF of Soriano, Pie and Crawford...and then find an offensive upgrade at SS...that'd be the makings of an outstanding all around team.

    Eckstein is the lone free agent shortstop who has been a regular starter in recent seasons. The Pirates have no plans to pick up the $5.85-million option on Cesar Izturis' contract and will make the former Gold Glove winner a free agent later this week. The Cardinals will have interest when his availability is official. From the Post Dispatch.

    He's a lock for next year! As for Braun v. Tulo....If Braun was just passable defensively I'd agree...but he's not at all....

    Maybe they have already agreed to a deal and are waiting until Wednesday (the first day he can be signed) to announce it? Actually teams cannot discuss money with free agents other than their own until tomorrow. Does that count for him too since he isn't any particular "team's" free agent?

    Not sure if this has been posted on here...but XM says that Fukudome filed for free agency today.
