I went to a middle school championship game tonight and I couldn't focus at all. I think I may have really seen only 5 plays. I had tears in my eyes with Eddie Vedder's song going over and over and over in my mind. I wore my Cubs hat and jersey and I only had 2 people say anything to me as I walked around (I live in Florida) -- but I didn't care. I was 12 years old again. Tonight I was in my bedroom listening to Lou Boudreau on the radio. I was watching Jack Brickhouse on WGN call Ernie Bank's 500th home run with his trademark, "Hey, Hey!" I was so excited about a routine ballgame in the summer of 1974 that I totally forgot about my last little league game of the year that day and the thought of it didn't occur to me until my Dad came home and asked if we had won. I said "yes." Of course, he meant my little league game. I meant the Cubs win. I joined this site in 2004, and while I haven't posted much, I have often been a part of the game threads. I've been here when no one was posting much on this board -- just 3 years ago. You guys, whether you know it or not, have been a big part of my Cubs life and I am thankful to celebrate the greatest game of our lives together.
