  1. Heck, maybe Lou just needs to tell them it's only a game and not the end of the world if they lose. Tell 'em to just go out and have fun.
  2. Agreed. You play the current game like there is no other, and then worry about future games as they happen. It's a horrible decision to make plans for game 4 when there is a possibility there won't even be a game 4. And you hope that if there isn't a game 4, it's because YOUR team swept the opposing team, not the other way around. I cautiously agree. However, there is no guarantee we would have won that game. Seriously, have you seen the way our hitters have sucked? Of course you have. Keeping Z in for one more inning would not have helped our hitters hit. Yes, you play to win the game. But I don't think there's anything wrong with looking at the big picture as well.
  3. Ok, so our offense has totally sucked the first 2 games. Now we're at home. More comfortable. Friendly crowd. How do the Cubs hitters get out of this slump? Do they have a team meeting and together come to a concensus to be more patient at the plate OR do they simply play their game believing they can win at home. Seriously, it's one thing to lose two games but play fairly well. The Cubs, though, have been horendous. Do you change the lineup? Does Lou give some sort of speech. How do they get out of this? Or is it even possible? For what it's worth, I think we can win the next 2
  4. Call me a glutton for punishment, but I think our level of play will increase at home and we will force a game 5. Now whether I feel this way tomorrow, that's a different story.
  5. Oh my god, could it be? I actually, just for a second or two, got hit with a wave of optimism that the Cubs would actually win the next two and force a 5th game. Damn, why can't they leave me alone? Why must I go through this torture?
  6. Isn't that what we said about Lilly? Well, Lilly crapped the bed, so why would Hill crapping the bed be any more crappable than we have already seen from this crappy team? This team is one big pile of ____.
  7. Just like the Cubs would destroy the Dbacks? The Dbacks are for real, it will be a hell of a series. I agree. It should be a very good series of FUNDAMENTAL baseball. Cubs managment and players should be taking notes. The DBags haven't been playing all that fundamentally sound. They've had several screw ups. The DiamondDouches are not for real. When Doug Davis makes you look that bad, its all on you. The Cubs have played horridly. I'm sorry, I didn't make myself clear. COMPARED TO THE FUNDAMENTALLY UNSOUND CUBS, Colorado vs. D-backs will be a breath of fresh air.
  8. We should have all see the warning sign during the Florida series. There's only one thing worse than a team with free-swingers who have poor plate discipline, and that's a team with free-swingers who have poor plate discipline that are pressing.

  10. Not sure about that one. I'm fine with what we have now. Why spend the money it'll take to get a starter. Spend it on offense, the pitching isn't the problem. I guess you're probably right. As long as we have Marquis, we have to use him. Ugh.
  11. Lou needs to put his foot down and get Soriano out of the lead-off spot. We need someone either in center (if Pie is not they guy) or someone in right with some decent power. We also need a shortstop -- preferably someone who is NOT gritty. The two offensive guys we get should be hitters WHO HAVE SOME SEMBLENCE OF PLATE DICSIPLINE. We need one more good starter as well. I don't think A-Rod is a Cub next year.
  12. Yes, that's how many times the Cubs have struck out in this series. Twenty, frickin', three! All of our free swingin' ways and lack of plate discipline have come to a head in this series. Biggest games of the year and the Cubs offense implodes. The sad thing is I highly doubt we will see an improvement in the next couple of years. Soriano, the prize player of the Chicago Cubs, leads the way of high contract players that have no plate discipline whatsoever. I'm frustrated but I'm not mad anymore. I'm past mad. I've come to expect this from the Cubs. Feel free to move this to rants.
  13. Cubs diary: 9:05: Turned on the game with cautious optimism. 11:15: Turned off the TV and went to bed muttering colorful metaphors.
  14. If the Cubs were to somehow able to get into the World Series, they wouldn't do it easily. I could see us having our backs to the wall just like the Red Sox and coming back to a miracle victory. I would expect the Cubs to do it no other way. That said: Diamondbacks sweep.
  15. Well, boys and girls, we can laugh at the D-Backs all night, show how statistically we are better, point out their terrible run differential, and post all the great articles saying how the Cubs will sweep or win this in 4. But the D-backs have one thing we don't -- discipline at the plate. And until we get some, we are gonna be disappointed year after year. The Cubs are the joke of the frickin' playoffs. I'm goin' to bed. Later.
  16. You know what, I don't even care anymore. They sure are a heck of alot better than the Cobs.
  17. How bout calling them about the crappy reception.
  18. geez, I'm surprised Lee didn't swing at that one.
  19. How have you managed not to get banned? We need to ban this baseball team!
  20. No, we don't have all the answers, but we can share our pain and sorrows together. As Billy Joel says, "it's better than drinking alone."
