  1. He REALLY needs to sit a few games, hell at this point I'll take Cedeno. Oops. I'm glad Lou -- and not MurtonFan or Cynosure -- made today's lineup card.
  2. I put $10 on Arizona to win the WS at the beginning of season (40-1). Probably not gonna happen, but they are 8-1 now. I've got $100 on them to win the NL at 25-1.
  3. #-o Sarcasm, I hope. Based on my back-of-the-envelope compuations, absolutely not.
  4. His streak is more improbable than Dimaggio's 56 game hitting streak. By a factor of about 10.
  5. Jacque Jones. Career OPS v. RHP = .825 What you saw in the first half was a fluke.
  6. I sure don't.Start Matt Murton. Obsessed... Anyway, if Rammy isn't in the lineup tonight I'm not even gonna bother watching one second of this game. On the contrary I want what's best for this team. In the current situation, Murton is one of the three best OFer's on the team, thus he should start. There are numerous other changes that would be better for the team. You don't post about any of them.
  7. "I keep getting creepy mail from this guy who signs his letter 'Murton fan.' He signs them in blood and keeps offering to 'take care of Piniella' for me. I wish he would stop."
  8. I didn't say otherwise. The fact that he's right doesn't make it any less creepy.
  9. Let's send down Lee and Ramirez with him. Weren't you the poster who jinxed Marshall last night? If you just could have held off on rubbing in Marshall's good outing an inning or two longer it could have been a different game. :D HA! Touche. Piniella's idiotic decision to play the infield in during a tie games in the SIXTH INNING did more damage than anything else.
  10. Lou said last night that Murton "probably" earned himself a start tonight. Lou's an idiot. You don't make decisions based on the fact that the guy hit a HR last night. I want Murton to start, but I'll believe it when I see it. Of course he is. But take what you can get. Don't ever look a gift horse in the mouth.
  11. x2, But Murton deserves to be in the lineup too. Seriously, dude. You're obsessed.
  12. Lou said last night that Murton "probably" earned himself a start tonight.
  13. Agree. If anything, Fontenot takes over to 2B when DeRosa moves to the outfield due to Jones piss poor bat. Also, I think Lou will try Pagan against LHP to try to ease Pie back in as a regular. Lastly, Theriot looks like the more consistent out there out of all players that have been shuffled around, so he's not going to sit for Cedeno. Jacque has been better than DeRosa lately. DeRosa has been pretty bad here for more than a month. He could use some rest. As bad as the offense has been, is there any reason we can't just go (not in this lineup order): Murton LF Pie CF DeRosa/Jones RF Lee 1B Theriot 2B Cedeno SS ARam 3B Soto C That group can't really be any worse than what we're getting right now, can it? That's fine with me. I'd be okay with Theriot at SS and EPatt at 2B too. I'm not sure there's much difference between those options.
  14. No, I really didn't think he'd be the one. May be though. I'd think they would want a guy capable of swinging from the right side and play CF, but who knows. Maybe Lou is sick of him. I doubt he's going down. Given our struggles against LHP, I can't imagine sending down the only guy on the roster that can (a) handle CF; and (b) hasn't been putrid against LHP.
  15. Was a decision made? Nothing official yet, no. I still think it will be Pie and the E-Patt blurb was just a snafu. Either way, I am wondering if they will even be available for tonights game. Hopefully a decision has already been made and the press just doesn't know it yet. We're facing a LHP tonight, so neither Pie nor EPatt will likely be in the lineup anyhow. I suspect we'll see Murton in LF, Pagan in CF, Floyd/Derosa in RF, and Derosa/Fontenot at 2B.
  16. No way Lou randomly bats Murton 2nd. Theriot has that spot solidified. Maybe Murton bats 2nd if Cedeno starts tonight at SS. I was thinking the same thing and since Theriot's played so much recently I think it would be good to give Cedeno a day to play. Are you sure about that? Don't you think the Cubs should get Murton and Theriot as many at bats as possible?
  17. Do you think Santana would clear waivers? (just kidding)
  18. Can we sign Manny Alexander just for one day? IIRC, Manny owned Glavine.
  19. I like. It's sad that we do have in house solutions for 3 of our 4 holes, but Soto, Murton and Pie won't get any regular time for some reason. Once again, CF isn't really a hole. Except for the whole lack of production thing, you're right. Jones has an .825 career OPS against RHP. As a comparison: By way of comparison, Lifetime OPS v. RHP Jacque Jones - .825 Carlos Beltran - .840 Mike Cameron .757 Johnny Damon .797 Andruw Jones .831 Vernon Wells .779 Torii Hunter .778 Nick Swisher .778 Are we only facing RHP from here on out? And are we going in the way back machine to when Jones was mildly productive? CF is a hole. Pretending otherwise doesn't change that fact. 1. We're not facing only RHP, but Jacque will be. The "way back machine" doesn't have to travel very far; Jones posted almost a .900 OPS v. RHP last year. That's all-star production from a CF. 2. Pagan/Jones is an entirely reasonable platoon the rest of the way 3. C, SS, and RF are, you know, actual holes. 4. For a board that supposedly values an analytical approach, this board is awfully hypocritical about not applying that analysis to its least favorite players.

  22. That's only true if you think Hill not catching would somehow make Zambrano not hit. As compared to the offense the Cubs have when the other four pitchers start? No.
  23. Lifetime numbers v. RHP: Torii Hunter - .267/.318/.460 Jacque Jones - .292/.341/.483 That deal would be stupid, stupid. stupid.
  24. Given that the Rangers absolutely refused to include him in the Salty deal, it's a reasonable assumption that it's going to take more than a "reasonable price" to acquire him.
